The wargaming veterans over at the Slitherine Group announced today that there business will be expanded in a completely new direction. Having tons of experience with simulating wars in the digital realm, the men and women of the group have gained lots of knowledge and know-how on advanced weapon systems and military hardware. As such, Slitherine Group Chairman JD McNeil announced that a new company branch will be opened, focussing on the research, development and production of new, real world, weapon systems.

JD explains: “Having developed digital combat simulations set in all different times, we have gained a lot of insight on the weapon systems used, the comparisons between them and the development cycles of the different types of military hardware. It was when we worked together on several modern warfare titles that we looked at these weapons and thought: We can do better!”

Rumours were already in the air regarding this new step for the Slitherine Group, with several journalists spotting key company members in the international arms fair in Saudi-Arabia earlier this year.

“Don’t get me wrong. ” Said JD McNeil: “We will continue to develop serious wargames, as that is where our passion lies and our core audience can be found. But developing and selling actual military hardware will allow us to generate a bigger income which we can then invest into making better and more accurate games.”

Marketing director Marco Minoli jumps in: ”It would be very cool to see in a couple of years that we can create games based conflicts where our own weapons where used! ”

An exact timeline on when we could expect to see the Slitherine branded weapon systems could not be given. But we should expect to see more in the next two to five years.

I am irate. Slitherine specifically committed to developing Medieval arms first and using them to resolve forum disputes. How many more years must we wait before Slitherine keeps its commitments?

Vicious rabbits with nasty sharp teeth were promised early on I might add, as well as the holy hand grenade of Antioch.

I think posters should consider their complaints carefully (very) in light of the priority that we are giving to drone development...

Cheers

Okay, I got home and was really, really tired and forgot what day it was. That still does not excuse me from being terribly dumb and naive. Way to go, you got me for more than a moment

TOP SECRET!

For Ian's Eyes ONLY!

Trusting that this is a secure channel, I am revealing to the members of the Matrix/Slitherine community that my ranch has only been a front to conceal my true identity.

Beneath my humble ranch buildings lay a sophisticated military facility for G.O.A.T. (Global Organization Against Terror).

Yes, I am the GOAT COMMANDER!

My elite team of operatives (GOATees) conduct covert operations worldwide to intercept and nullify terrorist initiatives. In support of these operations, my underground facility produces a variety of sophisticated weapons such as the GOAT MBT, GOAT APC, GOAT BUTTer Personnel Transport, as well as our Stallion series of missiles such as the Storm MK III Air to Air Missile and the Stormovik air superiority fighter.

I am proposing an alliance in which GOAT can produce Slitherine's military hardware designs.

I will require 2 to 5 years to ramp up production capabilities which is consistent with your own timeline.

Ian... please contact me via Slitherine SATCOM on a secure channel ASAP.

GOAT COMMANDER out!

Thanks for the offer but we specialise in the Pygmy GOAT and JD has 7 of them.

Once you have the technology to miniaturise your GOAT we can talk.

So when will you start offering 1 hour home delivery of games?

Can I choose 'notify me by drone' when my opponent moves?
