Always have looked for a moderately realistic age of sail game. This looks promising.

Anyone try it? Alpha/Beta inclusion seems to be close d . . .

This looks very good. Thanks for bringing it to our attention. I too have been waiting for a sailing ship wargame. Oh wait a minute is this an online
only game? I'm looking for a computer game with an AI.

I read it has AI for SP too and is not just MP, but MP is its main focus perhaps.

I've been playing it some since December. Currently, it is only ship on ship combat, similar to World of Tanks, but they are working on open world, I guess like Elite: Dangerous, where there is more to do than just fight.

Right now you do damage which unlocks bigger ships and then repeat. It goes from a small 8 gun ship up to 110 gun ship of the line. I'm on a 16 gun brig right now. I was on a 30 something gun frigate, but then they added more ships and knocked me down, and I haven't played too much since then.

The sailing model seems good to me, although I am far from an expert. It definitely takes more skill than WoT, you have different shot type, different levels of sail, wind direction and you can turn some of your sails to take advantage of the wind for turning faster than the default settings. I frequently get confused and end up stopping.

The games can last for up to an hour, but I'm pretty aggressive, so I'm usually dead sooner than that.

For a while I'd see a couple hundred people on during peak US evening time, but lately it has dropped off considerably, so sometimes it takes a while to get in a game. For the most part the players have been much more mature and friendly than WoT, which is the only other game similar to this that I've played. I think the subject, relatively slow speed of the game, and the fact it costs money probably contribute to that.

I've probably gotten my money's worth just from the beta and I looking forward to the rest of the game being completed.

It does have AI, for player vs environment, but it is pretty basic. At least you can always get a game though even if no one else is around.

Reminds me of Pirates of the Burning Sea, I had to do a bit of research to make sure it wasn't from those guys.

Cool. I was always looking for a SH-style Age of Sail game. Too many Patrick O'Brien books I suppose.

Look interesting, I was hoping to find a game that allow me to travel between mother country back in 1600s onward. Patrol, hunt, import as well export goods. I didn't like the East Indies Company and Commander: Conquest of America, just didn't feel right or setup right. The only one I like playing compare to New Worlds, would be Sid' Meir Colonization and Total War Empire. Also didn't care for Europa IV either, just didn't feel accurate.
