Just bought the game and it remains unplayable for me. Clicking on units results in an up to 5 second delay, scrolling while a base with units selected is "laggy". If an empty ocean hex is selected, then scroll speed is normal. I have tried about every command line switch fix combination there is. I am unable to get the game to run in windowed mode at all. The game looks fine graphically. I am running an i5-3570k 3.4ghz w/ 8gb RAM 64bit Win 8.1 with latest updates and Nvidia graphics driver (GTX 680). Screen resolution is 1920x1080. I have spent 4-5 hours checking the forums and applying all the suggested fixes. Any ideas? Very frustrating!

Your problem is one most new players have. It's a problem with DirectX and multiple processor cores. The game uses some calls to DirectX that don't work well with multiple processors.

First thing you have to do is update to at least patch 1, though I would strongly recommend updating to patch 6 which was released in the last month. Then you will have to edit the short cut used to run the game and add some command line switches.

There are lots and lots of threads about these switches here on the forum.

Check the following switches; you can add them at the desktop shortcut to the program like:

"C:\Matrix Games\War in the Pacific Admiral's Edition\War in the Pacific Admiral Edition.exe" -fd -px1920 -py1080 -altFont -deepColor -skipVideo –dd_sw

Works fine without lagging on my 2.4GHz 2.5GB RAM (no joke!) and an old 512MN vid card.

Klink, Oberst

First thing I did was upgrade the game to current version (downloaded patch 1124) . Inside the game it says its version Dec 25, 2014. Tried dozens of command line switches in dozens of combinations. I find it strange that the game will not go into windowed mode even with the commands. Also if I alt-tab out of the game and then go back in, the delays are gone but all the text of the game is highlighted in green and other graphical glitches are present. Weird. I really want to play. I think I've visited every thread on this subject.

No luck with Oberst Klink's switches either.

The graphical glitches happen when the graphic memory gets messed up. I have it happen on one of my computers. If I select a hex with nothing in it, like an open ocean hex with no TFs, then switch to another window and back, it resets the graphic memory and everything looks OK.

The -w switch didn't work to window the game?

After looking again at some of the same threads I found I was overlooking the fact that the command line switches need to be directed towards C:\Matrix Games\War in the Pacific Admiral's Edition\War in the Pacific Admiral Edition.exe" -fd -px1920 -py1080 -altFont -deepColor -skipVideo –dd_sw and NOT C:\Matrix Games\War in the Pacific Admiral's Edition\autorun.exe

Thanks for your help, I had a feeling I was missing something simple.

Here's what I use: "C:\Matrix Games\War in the Pacific Admiral's Edition\Beta2\War in the Pacific Admiral Edition.exe" -fd -altFont -px1920 -py1080 -archive -cpu1

You'll need the -archive if you're going to use Tracker and/or IntelMonkey. I haven't upgraded to the latest patch yet so I'm still on the Beta. If you want to play the Japanese in a campaign game You'll really need to use Tracker. I've got a much larger display than I used to have so I should probably use the -w. I've had pop-ups interfere with the game when not in windows mode. I think I've even had a couple of complete crashes while simultaneously being on the internet.
