Now those things sound more to my liking. I'd definitely like to see the desert sky at night. Visited the dam on the way back home from N.C. 2 years ago and enjoyed those vistas. Didnt do any tour and it pales in comparison to Hoover no doubt. I think it was Fontain? Took the winding southern route back around the Smokys.

I hope you don't mind if I hijack your thread to post a video I made of my neck of the woods. Some of the pics are borrowed from the net. A couple shots are paintings. Check out those wild horses. Once hunted now protected.

Nice!!! As I said in the Great Lakes thread - isn't the world a beautiful place? I love the golden, yellow, orange, brown colours of the trees - autumn (sorry fall) presumably?

Yes it is. There are so many places that I'd like to see if only I had the time and money.

Yeah, most are from Summer and Autumn. I loathe Winter. As you can tell I like water.

Sorry Zap.

May I suggest that you consider a visit to Norway, during summer, when you have the time and money.

I just love how to mountains and sea work together and create a amazing landscape.

Actually, Norway is probably my top wishlist destination. I've long admired pictures of their fjords and mountains. Sweden too with all their islands. All of Scandinavia.

Just stunning. I was trying to find a picture of the Swedish landscape from the air but nothing appeared. Do you have anything?

That image will stay with me a long time, it was just a mass of Green and Blue with pretty buildings on the Green - not a hideous skyscraper in sight.

Las Vegas is a great place. You can lose yourself and end up in the desert, broke, drugged and naked or you can go and have a great time and spend reasonable amounts of money.

A few years ago a group of guy friends from college went to Vegas for a four day trip. Things were pretty calm since most of us are in our late 20s or early 30s with wife/gfs and in some cases kids.
One of our friends is Vietnamese-American and is a fantastic guy but never had luck with the ladies and is very awkward around the opposite sex.
One night some of us were gambling and he was at the bar which was pretty empty. A stunningly gorgeous woman in her early 20s who was very well dressed sits next to him and strikes up a conversation. It escalated and about 20 minutes later she invites him up to her room.
Him being naive cannot believe his good fortune. He of course accepts.
His version of events is her gets to her door before she finally tells him that it is $400 an hour or $3000 for the night.
It took the poor guy about 20 seconds to process what was happening.

Needless to say that about ruined his trip. Poor guy was so embarrassed.

But now he lives in San Jose and is a corporate lawyer who represents the likes of Intel, Samsung and Google and makes well over 500k a year. He no longer has women issues

Also, the prostitute situation in Vegas is not really that bad. I went to Cuba when I was 18 and you literally had to also psychically push them off of you. They are so desperately poor that once your identified as a westerner you are hounded everywhere you go.
If you were so inclined you could probably have your pick of ladies for as little as $12. But I really did not want to prey on desperation and poverty.

Otherwise that was an awesome trip to a gorgeous country. I am glad relations are being normalized and I hope in the near future it becomes a tourist destination. It is a short flight from anywhere in the SE United States and is a fantastic place with awesome people, food, scenery and of course cigars and good rum.

I also went to Prague and Kiev when I was 16 and it was not as bad but still pretty bad. I have always looked way younger than my age but even as a 16 year old who looked 13 I was still asked for sex for payment on multiple occasions.

Vegas is really not that bad. You just have to understand that if you are approached by an attractive woman who seems out of your league and is eager for possible sex...then it is probably for payment.
Just politely refuse and go about your way.

It really is a great city with lots of entertainment options. The times I have been I have satisfied myself for hours on end playing blackjack for $5 a hand.

The Big weekend in Vegas. The Mayweather/Pacquiao. will fill the hotel rooms this weekend. Major traffic jams are expected on the I15 coming in from California. Room rates have skyrocketed. I've been considering renting out my 2 bedrooms!

The other news is the water Level of lake Mead has hit a new low. The extended drought has effected the western states Arizona, California, Nevada. In a another month water rationing will be in effect here. It will be strange to see all the water features here shut down.

And when the pumps start slurping air and the casinos can keep the toilets flushing, you'd better not be holding real estate.

LAS VEGAS has figured that one out. The tax payers of Nevada are funding a billion dollar pump that will go the bottom of the lake. When the other states(California, Arizona) pumps are pumping air we will suck up the last of the water in the lake.

That's the plan ? It's going to be interesting to see how it works out. At best LV delays the inevitable a bit longer. At worst the Feds move in and screw everyone.

The Riviera casino closes today. At the same time the construction of the 1 billion dollar Asian themed Casino has its groundbreaking ceremony.

The Riviera will be torn down and replaced with a business center expansion to the Convention Center.

Yes, some glaring omissions in my list. I guess when I qualify them , in my minds eye, I don't see Tropicana or Flamingo. because they are older and outlived their glamour. But for sure Wynn, Encore, Palazzo. The Stratosphere caters to groups lower cost hotel these days. Though it is still a nice hotel. Also forgot to mention Planet Hollywood.

Big News for Las Vegas. Ground breaking today of Resort World Casino. I believe its cost will be 4 billion dollars not the 1 billion I previously reported. I understand they plan on having some pandas .

The largest crowd ever for a Memorial day weekend in Las Vegas this weekend.

Shows ideas(restaurants, shows fail miserably here). A developer set up a Nike shoe museum. It displayed 2,500 new Nike shoes. It lasted 2 months before he shut the doors.Lol
