I think the original question has been settled.

But the real question is whether Tracker is worth 110aud.

Perhaps but I need to ask a really stupid question.....what is an AUD?

Outside the US different dollar currencies are frequently abbreviated to distinguish them from US greenbacks (aka USD). AUD is the Australian dollar. NZD is New Zealand dollar, etc.

What other war-games have you owned and enjoyed? This game is aimed at a niche group of a niche group, but if you are part of that niche then there is no amount of money that would be too much.

Recommend this game for the logistics (if you play Japan). It is a simplified system and playable. It will introduce you to the "wonderful" world of getting supplies and equipment to the right place at the right time. This game was a eye opener for me to find out how hard it is to correctly [even for a simplified system like this one].

Simplified? Compared to WHAT? The real world definitely, but I haven't seen a game that is this logistics intensive on any scale. I can see maybe including it in a tactical game (not sure why unless you want to make a game for budding supply corps/quartermaster types - but it would bore anyone else to tears).

Late to the party because for the last few months I've been putting money into other games I wanted to try. My Odyssey is almost complete as I have come to realise that after witp-ae almost everything else feels lightweight except Dwarf Fortress, which as you all know is free. I've expanded my Paradox collection (DLC $ bastards $) and gotten into MHTGW(making history - the great war), given KSP a good go, as well as a plethora of space strategy games. Lately, I have been enjoying World of Warships just cause I have an affinity with seeing a Mogami tear an Atlanta apart.

On the whole I don't regret pouring money into other publishers pockets, I hope one day one of them will make a masterpiece too. My patronage hopefully will allow that to occur.

BUT - essentially the gravity of AE is too great, like a comet returning from the Kuiper Belt, I will be back soon.

AE is a time sink, an enjoyable time sink, but one that can be a little too consuming at times. When I was coding Tracker with Floyd (cheque please), making tutorial video's, playing NEMO121 and doing my econ101 doc - It all got outta hand. I hope I can find the balance next time around. But AE sucks you in and swallows some of us whole. I am an addict.

Cheers

I think it is worth it, very complex and a lot of macro management going on. Not sure what strategy games compare to this, to give you the ideas what this is like, except checking out the videos on youtube.

I was so excited when I got it, took me awhile to figure out how to play it.

With the global collapse of many commodity markets, the Australian dollar's concurrent collapse (relative to USD) is also germane to this conversation now. The AUD is now trading at about 0.74 USD. So 110 AUD is USD $81.40. A bargain by any standards, particularly on a AUD-hedged basis.

Chickenboy, don't tell me to jam them in the SD/MMC slot, I tried that already with a nickel.

You supposedly can fly faster than the speed of light and you can't figure out Bitcoins and what a SD/MMC slot is? I'm really disappointed with the education programs on your home planet

No. it's worth much, much more. I'd pay $500+ USD. Maybe more , considering how much fun and pleasure it's given me over the years.

Oh, I'll tell you where to put 'em alright, lizard. But you might have more problems with jamming.

What about the frustration, angst, anger, frozen terror and conniptions? Are you discounting the $500 for those?

Conniptions are the real fly in the ointment. They always mess up ROI calculations.

The game never caused me any of those. Now a certain opponent of an avian nature had me polishing my shotgun once or twice.....

Cyber drug is right, can't tell you how many hours I sank into that game, I love Dwarf Fortress even with its horrendous UI. That's why when I saw this recently I had to fight the urge to get it:

http://gnomoria.com/

Finally a graphic version of Dwarf Fortress with good UI with no need to memorize long letter strings to get things done, it’s all pull down menus. Watched a few let’s play videos and was amazed at how well done it is compared to DF.

But too many summer projects and some house remodeling including new hard wood floors that I need to get done, I must fight the urge, resistance is faltering...

Jim

110aud for this game ?. does it provide lots of content and repleyability? hows its ai? hows the turn time midgame and lategame? will i get a chance to get a diffent alternate war if i do things different ? does the ai react if i dont follow historical path?

I hope you're still coming by the WiTP:AE site occasionally, ifailmore. Please note that the game is on sale this weekend at 50% off. The game is-without a doubt-worth 110 AUD. But it's really, really, really a steal at 55 AUD.
