Hi everyone,

I have a suggestion for a fix to an in my opinion very irritating event.

Scenario:
1. Campaign or Operation selected, you type the name of what you want to save it as and continue
2. You are on the map overview with all units, you carefully make your moves and at the end you press execute.

Now, at this point the game is NOT saved. So consider the following:
1. You start the next battle but have to quit the battle mid game
2. You don't start the battle and return to the desktop

What happens now is that all your unit movements are lost.
You need to play and finish at least one battle for the settings to auto save.

I suggest one of the following fixes
1. Automatically save to the existing save file (seems logical to me)
2. Make the Save button at the bottom automatically save to the existing file
3. Make the Save button at the bottom automatically have the current saved file filled in the textbox where you type the savegame

Regards and thanks for keeping the Close Combat series alive, love it :)

Hello Grippen,

In-battle saves have never been a feature of Close Combat, but it is a suggestion we get from time to time.

There would potentially be a /lot/ of data to be saved for a battle in progress, as there is a lot going on under the hood while bullets are flying. It's not impossible, but it is something the current CC engine wasn't designed to support. Definitely something we're considering for future releases on the new engine, though.

Steve, I dont think Gripen is talking about the battle itself , But more importantly that the movements and actions on the STRAT layer should be saved automaticly when "NEXT" button is pushed after strat moves and Fire support allocation.

Auto saving after movement on the strat map would be a great addition to the series.

Ah - that can be done, though I don't foresee a chance to add things to Gateway to Caen until after The Blood First is released.
