Yes, the Allied intel does include this info. Sometimes it tells where a particular part of LCU is going or the name of the ship its loading onto.

I recall that...I was curious if his sigint is lighting up with lots of reports. I have so much loading and then in transport.

I am hoping he will get a lot of intel on the final destination & not the waypoints.

PS: I saw your post & I was hoping to read the secret AFB method for executing large invasions in only a few clicks!

Lowpe, here's what I typically see in the way of Allied SigInt:

1. A unit aboard John Doe Maru (so, for instance, I might get a report that "16th Div/14 is aboard Brazil Maru").
2. A unit is prepping for a particular destination: "7th Division is prepping for Toledo."
3. A units is at a particular locaion: 18th Division is at Saipan.

I do not get SigInt that a unit is loading aboard a ship (only that it is already aboard a ship).
I do not get waypoint SigInt (unless, perhaps, the waypoint is an Allied-controlled base used that a clever Japanese player uses as a decoy). But, to clarify, I don't get SigInt that a division is bound for some ocean hex serving as a waypoint for the TF carrying the unit.

A typical message is "4th Division is on a Yusen-class xAK heading for Manila."

Two ways of looking at it

1) He's got the signit, but because of your movements elsewhere on the map he thinks its you attempting to fake him out. So he's going to get a massive shock

2) He knows you are coming thanks to Signit but thinks he's got enough there already to stop you on land and air and is looking forward to it.

Going to be fun!

End of Dec, 1942

An Iboat eats a torpedo attack off Rabaul, but lives (Sboat attack, small torps). In pierside mode for a while...

Thanks for all the sigint help. The invasion is off (well, you know...left port), some troops at sea for 1 day, but wave 1 is 100% at sea, and now the forces will be leaving daily.

This will be a stream style invasion, as I am trying to avoid TF concentrations which might give out more sigint.

Pearl is quite key, as it is the only large port in the area with generous stacking limits. The Allies really should have it under much better recon.

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR Dec 28, 42

So far Jocke has gotten a ping on two invasion task forces: one near Alaska with a 1/0 DL two days ago, and another near Pearl with a 1/2 1 day ENE of Pearl.

The Allies are doing better at protecting their CVs' and BBs'. Here, I wanted to catch the Allied fleet as it returned to Ceylon for repair and refit after taking Chittagong. Not all of my subs got here in time, and basically I rushed and sprang the trap one day too soon.

Moonlight is 30%; but I will send in the two light cruisers to see what they find. The Allies will probably divert their BBs and CVs and redirect a lot of ASW here as all of my subs have 10/10 DLs.

I wonder what will happen?

Very disappointed here...my CLs had the perfect targets as the Allies embedded a destroyer with AMs and KVs. Had a chance here to really nail some Allied ASW...but no engagement. I had good dls, but the Allies did spot the CL's at night, and perhaps that was enough for them to avoid combat.

Everyone safely away and no subs hurt. Just fuel spent.

Just a little snapshot of somewhere....just a small portion. Really.

No detection on anything heading out. Lahaina is at 1/3. Two days ago there was more shipping there and a division.

The Allied sub fleet is primarily in the wrong spots for the upcoming invasion. I don't get the feel that he is scouting with cargo ships (I am not), but I also don't think he is using the subs as a picket force instead relying upon flying boats.

Certainly, I have been able to probe pretty darn close.

Bodes well for the future.

For the next few days, sigint is the big worry. The Deathstar is in Ceylon; a lot of Allied Cruisers are in the Noumea area...still, I am sure he will be able to sortie many destroyers my way, and perhaps a few battleships. Certainly, enough to ruin my day if I don't take proper precautions.

Just a quick little r&d update:

My first George factory is almost repaired (29/1) and I only have two of them. No point in having more I think in a pdu off game.

My second J2M2 factory is also 1 point from being fully repaired, and like it's researching twin, will immediately move down the line to the J2M3 model which has already been advanced 1 full month.

Frank A's are moving right along, the best factory is 80% repaired.

Sams are of course a lot slower.

Tonys' are slow too, but there is at least 2 size 30 actively researching the "D" version; while B and C version factories continue to repair.

Two fully repaired factories researching both the Jill (model 2) and the Judy (model 2).

On the NF front, an Irving-s factory is one point away from being repaired.

Jan 1, 1943

Happy New Year.

Running a little late for my invasion; but we shall see.

I suspect I am 7 days away.

Better torpedoes, so I have to really be on my guard. Allies had a shot at a fully loaded oiler west of Pearl today, but missed. Glad I started the program to swap out tanker Captains.

My second J2M2 factory fully repaired, and now moved up to research the J2M3. A6M5b and Oscar III start production in a few days.

Used an Emily squadron to bomb Madras....got one hit on a AKE, and no Emily's lost....so perhaps that will cause Jocke to spread his air force a bit.

Allies seem to be preparing for their next attack in the Ndeni area, and I bet he has plans for Port Moresby and Horn Island in the not too distant future.

Afternoon Air attack on Madras , at 35,40

Weather in hex: Light rain

Raid spotted at 15 NM, estimated altitude 14,000 feet.
Estimated time to target is 5 minutes

Japanese aircraft
H8K1 Emily x 11

Japanese aircraft losses
H8K1 Emily: 1 damaged

Allied Ships
AKE Will A. Point, Bomb hits 1

Port hits 1

Aircraft Attacking:
11 x H8K1 Emily bombing from 10000 feet
Port Attack: 2 x 250 kg SAP Bomb

A panorama view of 3 different areas of the ocean...make of it what you will. They are in no particular order.

DD in 6 days.

No sub encounters, but we have had those light blue encounters spotting 7 ships etc...with both FP and CV planes.

Level 1 DL on Pearl yesterday.

The southern half of the US...Iboat deployments.

The northern I will not post as there is too much other information there.

No detection on anything.

Do you expect ships South? When you raided San Francisco there was nothing there. Should the subs be further north to provide recon for landings and interdiction? I guess if it ends up just being waves of PTs and destroyers they wouldn't help much.

I think you may be assuming we have any idea what is really going on here. I don't think we do ...

... and Lowpe is not going to tell us. The first we'll know will be a screenshot as the Japanese try to take the entire western pacific steelhead and chinook salmon fishery for their own.

Oh, are we placing bets on invasion location, then?

I'm going with Tillamook, and/or maybe Astoria, with paradrops on Corvallis (although I can't remember if Lowpe has reconned it, and if so how heavily it is/isn't defended). Perhaps a late suicide paradrop (or multiples) on Tacoma to pause rail movement?

The sub placement I assume is to catch any ships reacting northwards from ports south.

First week of Jan, 43

Altitude cap is now 30K according to the first page of Olorin's house rules. I lowered my cap down to 5-10K.

Invasion force is now 18 hexes from the invasion beach, closest spots are only 14 hexes.

As far as I can tell nothing spotted yet....only one Yank sub meandering around and on that I have minimal dl.

Awaiting turn from Jocke...

First week of Jan 1943

Allies get dl's on quite a few task forces including the spearhead. Invasion looks to start in two days and then continuing in from there.

Goal, is my original goal of isolating LA, doubt I can take it, but at least I can fight there in the good terrain and moving down and capturing San Diego...and then leaving. Smash and burn what I can.

I just couldn't see fighting in the nasty terrain that is the Pacific Northwest so late in the game.

Rather than concentrating everything in one hex, I tried to spread out a little but we will be moving in now...full speed ahead.

13 divisions....

Decoy invasion fleet headed for Victoria/Seattle area....Allies have good dl on the carriers and bb that are part of the decoy...so here is hoping this causes Jocke just enough confusion for another day or two.

Supply in several task forces unloading at Coal Harbor. Paratroops flying from there to coincide with southern invasion.
