In the good news category, the IBoat makes Rabaul, and on the first day under repair drains 10 points of flotation.

I will probably get her down to major damage only, only to have her torpedoed on the way back for shipyard repairs. My luck...is bad. I once lost a sub because the batteries caught fire. I have lost 3 AK this game to grounding at friendly ports.

My only successful sweeper of the last two days: The Tojo IIc (and that with drop tanks). I can barely field any squadrons of them. PDU off.

The Oscar IIIa didn't do to badly, but they pretty much supported the sweeps and not any of the bombing runs.

Notice the low altitude.

77th Sentai...The Oscar IIb got chewed up and spit out...big time!

Should have put them at 5,000 feet.

Why what to do after getting hammered in the air. Analyze it, and attack again. A squadron of Tojo IIc are sweeping in Burma, the IIc did really well yesterday (perhaps that was only due to the fatigue the Allied pilots suffered from), but we will try in a different area.

In the New Britain area, we are LRCAP Buin attempting to catch the Allied bombers.

Magwe got it's fighter strength back up over 250.

Moving fighters from Alaska back to the HI.

6 out of a possible 42 Franks are repaired. The pilots are hand picked and resting. 20 planes have a 1 day repair requirement...so only a few more days until the Frank shows up. Not expecting miracles...will be happy with 1-1 results or better. Will take 1-2 reluctantly.

In a daring move, a Battleship, 3 CA and destroyers are going to Long Island, the dot north of Umboi, and disbanding. If all goes well, they will be undetected and ready to pounce on the Allies in a day or two.

Deliberate attack at Paoshan. I could have attacked today, but not all troops had 100% supply, so I decided to wait attack despite being 7,000 overstacked. The supply flowed in, and will attack today. Also, bombing Changsha Airfield to prevent fort building there.

The game is heating up with actions all over the map....

Tenryu upgrade to CLAA:

I have sent them to a size 100 shipyard, but the option isn't available (supposedly only needs a size 25). They are 2/42 upgraded ships, and the option is supposed to be there -- 180 days -- so they would finish in time with my last batch of fleet carriers.

Does the upgrade have to happen in Tokyo? BTW, Tracker says location Hiroshima and that is where they are.

The Tenryus lose their minelaying ability if you go through with that upgrade.

I'm not sure where I accidentally upgraded one. Could've been Tokyo. You're already at Kure, may as well just sail over.

2 confirmed kills for 0 losses, but the air loss screen has the Allies losing 13 fighters: 6 in A2A and 7 to ops.

Burma

Paoshan: Forts knocked down to 1; supply malus; and my first 2-1. Won't move the troops out, will just wait a few days for supply to flow back in. Next attack should do it.

Only one unit at Ramree...Marines.

APD land more troops at Buin...he will bombard tonight with the Cruisers present, probably aerially bomb tomorrow and attack. Not sure the base can stand up to all that.

June 21, 1943

We are kicked out of Vancouver Island...Allies land with two divisions, one a marine division. Not to mention we had been evacuating by plane for months. Still, too many troops left there to die (especially motorized support).

Another deliberate attack in California, probably can on only take one or two more there before everyone is gone.

Bought back the 21st Division, respawn from California, for over 600pp. It has 60 AV. It is not a great division, and I set prep to Singers. It will fight in Sumatra, or be a reserve at Singers.

Allies have a second sense when it comes to avoiding my CAP traps. Still working on it, and not giving up.

Buin and Shortlands still hold out. Allies seem to have lost interest in Shortlands, but naval bombarded Buin. I was thinking of trying to intercept the naval bombardment for Buin, but figured the Allies would bombard during the night. My bad, as they bombarded during the day. No surface ships are more vulnerable than surface bombardment ones.

Allied troops at Lae marching to the east. I should be able to hold there for quite a while I think. Umboi got a provisional base garrison with dp guns.

Hiyo finishes upgrades, 4 CV left in upgrade. KB will reach Truck and replenish lost planes.

This turn: more cap traps (2), big sweeps including the never tested Ki-61a. Franks more than half way repaired.

Allies reinforcing Ramree with destroyers and LSI. Allied High Command should feel very well at how they are progressing the war with little cost. Although he should have done it sooner, like six months ago as my defenses were/are paper thin.

Still no joy in the Tenryu conversion. They are now at Tokyo. They have a point or two of sys damage, so I will fix that, and perhaps the conversion will open up then.

What's the SY size there? They might need it to be size 50... a la the other conversions.

requirement in tracker says size 25. Repair shipyard is 100 in this mod.

The Zereos sweep first, followed by a Tony 61a, then a Tojo IIa, then a Tony 61a, then the Tojo IIc.

Not stellar performance from the Zeroes, their day is long gone, sadly. The Tony don't do well (flying with drop tanks), but the Tojo does do well.

Japan loses two fighters for each Allied fighter roughly.

They clear the way for this bombing attack with elite pilots...perhaps the best bombing run I have ever done as Japan.

The size 50 thing is from "capital" ships converting/upgrading to a new type. Must be Tokyo, and must be RepSY 50 or higher. This applies to the CS->CVL and BB->BB conversions.

Unsure why yours are not upgrading.

Well, here's a silly question, actually. Are you just looking in Tracker? Or are you looking in-game? These aren't manual conversions, are they?

Ugly weather across the whole world it seems.

I figure there is a window to deliver troops to Buin since Allies bombarded last night. A destroyer will screen the APDs...I don't like it though, because using fast transport to deliver troops to friendly bases is fraught with peril and screwed up orders. So, the riflemen and artillery will be headed for Buin, but the cooks and support staff will be at Rabaul. Maybe I will fly them in...

The 17th, that they are carrying, represents one of the major ground combat units in the area. I don't want to lose them and the APDs at sea.

I flew some mountain guns to Buin. The 4th Indep; I have been flying them in at every contested battle down here. They get destroyed, but a splinter is at Rabaul and rebuilds. Rinse and repeat. I would hate to be in that unit...

A SNLF COY grabs an autoflipped dot base.

Just to so you how insane I am, I convert two absolutely good subs into SSTs. Because I could.

I swear I read in the conversion that their capacity was 30, but now I see it is less.

Look at the fuel hogs some of the other conversions are!

Maybe it's a database error? That's odd.

But trust me - you want them to keep their mines. Use them as fast minelayers later. You don't actually get that many Type 93 minelayers. Mostly just the CM's and the Ansyu PB's. That's it, I think.

Its a conversion, not an upgrade. Could it be that you upgraded them before and now the opportunity for a conversion is lost ?

Yep, it is a conversion, and it is supposed to become eligible after the 2/42 upgrade.

The ships lose their mines if I upgrade to get radar.

Weather forecast poor. But no enemy fighters at Milne Bay, and a CA/DD force there. What to do?

Send in the Lillys! 2 Squadrons with range enough to hit the Milne Bay...and for good measure there are very few guns at Lae...so the Helens will bomb the port there (three ships in port).

The APDs will make a mad dash...

I will endeavor to hide five more destroyers...

TF Haruna, Aoba, and Furutaka are in position ready to pounce.

And in Burma:

The Marine Corp is moving from Ramree...lets bomb them. Very few guns on the ground yet at Ramree. Sweeps with Tojo, LRCAP and Escorts with Oscars.

Should be fun.

Plus I have moved the Nicks in to protect Shwebo and the destination hex of the Marine Corp Division.

So far the Allies haven't been sweeping or LRCAP or Escorting their bombers.

With a little luck I can chew them up and spit them out!
