I did the worst one of all time about three months ago, in my game with John III.

After a restless night, I woke up early and logged onto the computer. Apparently still groggy, I clicked on "my" thread and posted my thoughts about something pertinent to the game. Then, I looked at the post above mine and saw that somebody had chimed in with thoughts about the speed of my LSTs probably explaining why my TFs were moving so slowly...and I realized that person was making a comment to John III.

I WAS POSTING IN JOHN III's THREAD!

I deleted the comments of my post and left the thread, having read only that...but the agony of having to write John to explain the miscue. I can't tell you how relieved I was when he quickly replied that he understood.

Quiet day...I did lose an PB running fast transports. I knew it was at risk, just neglected to fly protection over it. My bad, but I will get revenge on those pilots.

Allies quiet in the air...resting.

PS: Got a nice note from Jocke apologizing for accidentally reading the AAR. He read a few tracker posts before he figured it out! Too funny. he thought he was in my other AAR with Obvert...hey, Obvert you stole the name of my CV!

PDU off screw up....

I have two r*d facilities almost finished repairing for the Grace and a lot of squadrons upgrade to her. Probably get the plane late first quarter 44 which is great.

Unfortunately they all upgrade from the B6N2a which won't arrive until 11/44. Argh.

Major screwup.

Another PDU off screw up.

Harbin, the safest plane facility I have is making the Ki61d. At right around 60 a month. I want it to become the primary Ki100I and then II plane plant, but to do that it has to upgrade to the KAI Tony first (7/44).

But I estimate I will get the Ki100I around 2/44.

Not the end of the world since the 61d is a fighter that will be with me to the bitter end, but I would rather that plant was making the 100I.

A really nice attack at Feni yesterday. These three adjacent bases should be built up now, in hindsight, since they transfer supplies by simply being adjacent.

Feni, pictured above, is Japanese controlled and therefor I cannot sweep.

However, the Allies like to LRCAP it occasionally.

So, what I have done is set up a splinter of a squadron of Nicks to bomb from 30,000 feet with escorts and LRCAP at 30K.

I am hoping the Allies set up their LRCAP at lower altitude, and I get a poor mans sweep. I am doing this over Katha too this turn.

Sept 4, 1943

Another quiet day as the Allies rest, and I drive my planes very hard, very hard indeed. Especially my transports.

A signal success, but now I need to re-position my troops.

Almost exactly 6000 troops at Midway and Wake, both with decent forts and CD guns. Need to fine tune a little, but at least they won't be pushovers.

turn is away...setup a CAP Trap over Umboi, and hope to destroy the planes that got my PB a few days back. A supply convoy will change route and drop supplies there under a heavy layered CAP of Oscar IV, A6M5c, and Tojo IIc.

Burma, on my mind...21st Division is flying in.

1st Tank is marching to Moulmein.

2nd Tank Arrives at Bangkok, along with the 2nd Div. Trying to develop some hefty reserves.

I think the Allies will start trying to close some of the bases in central Burma...adjusted my CAP accordingly and will continue to tweak it.

After much searching I found a r&d facility I can switch over to the B6N2a so perhaps I can move up its entry by a month. By getting the Grace early, I should be able to have quite the stockpile of them for the end game as I plan on producing lots of them. Not the end of the world in messing up the upgrade path.

An Iboat takes a beating (60 flood) by a trio of SC down Noumea way. Will limp back...pairing up with another Iboat for safety.

An xak delivering supplies to Umboi is torpedoed, and the heavy CAP is worthless as the Allies don't attack. Heavy clouds and lightning over Umboi.

A coordinated bombing and then deliberate attack forces this small Aussie unit back.

Burma

Naval invasions scare me...are Allies preparing/planning for one? I thought for sure he would flood the plains with troops and seek to infiltrate Japanese lines despite supply concerns.

Is this to save the captain in the event of a failure, or is there more of a benefit to this that I never knew before?

With regular ships having an extra helps with damage control, fire suppression. So, I feel it logical to think that an extra Iboat will help too. I have had remarkable success doing this, even getting an Iboat with 97% flood damage back to safety. In fact, I don't think I have ever lost a sub using this technique.

While I can't say I have never lost an I-Boat using this technique, it makes a big difference in helping a damaged boat make it back to port. I tend to operate my I-Boats in wolf packs. Having help for a damaged boat is a nice byproduct.

Make that "damned wolf packs"!

I can't say if it really made them more effective, but it seemed that way.

My latest project.

I have one sentai of Frances torpedo bombers. They are SR4 planes currently, but can carry a torpedo a good distance with armor.

My goal here is to use sill 70 trained pilots to bomb the Chinese pockets harvesting experience, and then to use the squadron at dedicated night torpedo runs. Pax suggests that high experience really matters in the night naval attacks.

The goal here is to come up with some viable threats to the Deathstar.

I will never get enough Frances squadrons during the game, I think less than 6 total and they come in dribs and drabs over the years.

Also, you cannot exclude the fact that showing these planes to the Allies now, might have a delaying or worrying factor.

My aerial ASW is starting to get skilled...this was either Vals or Kates.

Nice sub, I sure hope it is sunk, but I have my doubts.

A LRP unit is heading for the jungle, protected by 2 light AA units. IJAAF still bombs them from 10K with twin engined bombers.

The xak burned up or pumps failed, and it went down from the sub attack.

It is interesting that the only ASW aerial asset near Manus is Judy, and they carry 500# bombs, but perhaps not when they are flying ASW?

A slightly more sophisticated targeted search attack. Over 130 Betties/Nells (20% on search) but with Glen equipped Iboats adding to the area covered.

Oscar escorts out to 14 hexes, naval strike out to 17-22. Hopefully they don't fly into the Rimfrost and a heavy CAP.

Wasn't the Rimfrost torpedoed recently? Should be out of action for a little (?) while.

BTW is it possible to know the names of your opponent's carriers? Aside from specific combat reports, I mean. Just wondering what other off the wall CVs you'll run into in this game.

Not very strong, but it shows up as full strength in Allied SigInt reports, well most of them.

I wonder how long it will take to rebuild...just about to divide it and set them to rest. All the surrounding bases need 20K supply to maximize replacements.

Yep, but I figure she might wander up around here, she is probably only scratched.

No ideas on any other names.

Bought out a large construction unit at Tokyo today. Over 20 PP, that really hurts, but I need the engineers. This one is going to Hanoi to build the bases up on the Cam Ranh Bay Hanoi rail line.

I am trying my poor man's sweep over Katha again today...

Cap Trap at Umboi.

Targeted naval strikes out of Rabaul.

How many players get Aces flying float fighters?

Petty Officer Nagaishi has been wounded twice. The first time was on the day he was credited with his 5th kill, and he was out for 9 days then. Most recently he flew his Rufe against Lightnings...and lived.

He is back in his beloved Rufe, however there is one squadron of Rex's back in Tokyo. Perhaps a reassignment is due?
