Reduced squads mean that your troops will come into battle already with attrition. I.e. squads that should have 9 soldiers can now have 6, 7, or 8 soldiers instead. Some will be at full strength, others won't.

I think this also is regulated by what nation and year you play. GE troops from -43 will less likely be at full strength etc.

A very annoying feature, if you ask me. :p

No, I'm not familiar with Victory Frontage. :o

Unit movement can be made by assigning a formation to AI control. Watch out, though! This usually leads to some serious f*ckups in unit movement - they get stuck at all kinds of places, and will not hesitate to run straight into enemy LOS.

I wouldn't recommend it. It's worth the hazzle of klicking troop by troop. The "N" key comes in handy here! :)

Victory Frontage turns on three center Victory Hex groups instead of the normal five groups. It alters a strategy slightly, causing more aggressive games, because one must prevent an opponent from capturing only three hex groups while the opponent holds nothing back.

Thanks Goblin, I rhink I like the three central ones.
Thats what ive been playing so far. I find it easier to only have to concentrate on the central area of the map(except for flanking&flank defense). planning guerilla raids under cover of smoke, trees is fun.
ps im only a noob, lots to learn yet.

You are welcome! It is much harder against a human to play with it ON. With only three to take, and none to guard, players can really lay it on, and must, or the other player takes them right away.

Keep plugging away at it, we are all still learning the game.

Hello

Just to remind you that if you turn reduced squads 'on' and play a canned scenario/campaign you override the units strength settings the scenario creator may have made.

This may result in totally different battle than what the designer intended.

Good for spicing up an old favourite!! :D

I like Reduced Squads sometimes; I tend to toggle it whenever I hit the preferences screen and think about it... so roughly every 8 times I play a save or scenario. The idea behind this feature is that you will always have someone injured or dead without a replacement yet, someone on runner duty, someone in the brig for brawling, etc.

It also favors the side with small units, a unit with 4 members will not be reduced, while a unit with 19 or 20 men will suffer up to 30% attrition.

So 5 units of 4 will still get you 20 men, one unit of 20 may get you 14.
thanks, John.
