08. Nov/Dec 1940. India Adjacent Sea Area. Burma. Malaya.

All in firm control of the Japanese. India is still completely controlled by the CW. Well, also the control of the Arabian sea is still being contested between the RN and IJN.

08. Nov/Dec 1940. Economic Reports.

Even with all their new conquest, Japan's war economy is taking a beating with their losses in Manchuria and Korea to the Soviets and in China to the communist Chinese.

08. Nov/Dec 1940. Trade for Jan/Feb 1941.

The USA had four extra oil points that they couldn't either save or use for production. So they decided to up their "traded" oil to the CW by 3 points. The USA player wasn't brave enough to up it by 4, which they probably should have.

09. Jan/Feb 1942. USA Successfully DOW's Japan

The USA player rolled a 6 on a 60% chance of successfully declaring war against Japan. Just barely good enough to get the DOW on Japan. This success reduced the DOW chance against German/Italy from 60% (also) to 10%.

09. Jan/Feb 1941. Post Turn. US Entry Options.

Post turn the USA was still not at war with the Euro-Axis. The USA choose to add option 28, start strategic bomber production.

The chance to successfully DOW Germany moved slightly from 10 to 20%.

09. Jan/Feb 1941. Destroyed and Repair Pools.

The majority of the fighting this turn was at sea. However, some land action occurred in Egypt and in Asia.

09. Jan/Feb 1941. CP Losses.

The CW lost 4 CPs to Italian subs in Cape St. Vincent and 1 CP to IJN cruisers in the Pacific this turn. With the US entering the war, the 4 lost CPs in Cape St. Vincent were quickly replaced and all convoy routes reestablished. However, the lost of the 1 CW CP in the Pacific couldn't be replace which meant that no resources from Australia reached England this turn meaning that only 2 of 3 food in flames PP's made it to England (this turn).

09. Jan/Feb 1941. Nazi-Soviet Pact.

Even playing with the optional rule, "Breaking the Nazi-Soviet pact", I don't believe the axis will have the necessary forces to be able to break the pact this year due to the Soviet strategy of stuffing the border.

So, as the Germany player I'm not going to stress about this. I will use this use to go after Yugoslavia and Greece (i.e., pacify the Balkans).

09. Jan/Feb 1941. Western Med. Algeria. Tunisia.

The Italian Regina Mariana managed to hold their own against the RN and French navy in the Western Med, this maintaining supply to the Italian ground troops in Algeria and Tunisia. Troops that need to be redeployed to Libya and Egypt.

09. Jan/Feb 1941. Wavell's Counterattack.

Speaking of Egypt, Wavell and the British 8th army in Egypt counterattack the invading Italians. While the counterattack was indecisive it's hoped to have blunted the Italian advance.

09. Jan/Feb 1941. Eastern Med. Egypt.

Note to Warspite. Your ship is the "flagship" of the RN group fighting off the Italian Regina Mariana in the Eastern Med to keep supply lines open to Wavell and the British 8th Army in Egypt.

09. Jan/Feb 1941. The Red Sea.

The IJN continues to push west against the RN and is no in control of the Red Sea. But hopefully with the US entry into the war this control represents the zenith of the Japanese expansion against the CW.

09. Jan/Feb 1941. Sea Areas (Axis and Allied Control).

The first impulse of this turn represented the zenith of axis control of sea areas, especially for the Japanese.

After USA entry on impulse 3, the Japanese lost control of the Bismark, Solomons, and Coral Sea area. The screen cap duo below was taken at the end of this turn, so it reflects the situation at sea for the Japanese slightly post apogee of peak IJN control.

Note the break in the CW convoy line from Australia to England in the Southwest Indian Ocean. This break lost the CW 1 of the 3 food in flames PP's.

09. Jan/Feb 1941. Cape Town, South Africa.

The carrier strength of the USN Atlantic fleet redeployed from Charleston to Cape Town, South Africa. The objective of this force is to "assist" in the RN in regaining control from the Japaneses of the sea areas between the East Coast of Africa and Australia.

09. Jan/Feb 1941. Bismarck, Marianas, Solomons and Coral Sea.

On the other side of the Japanese naval expansion, the USN pushed back in the IJN by sweeping them from and gaining full control of the Marianas, Solomons, Bismarck and Coral Seas.

09. Jan/Feb 1941. Guam, Saipan, Truk.

Though successful at sea, the USN lost their bid to reinforce Guam. This "lost" cost the USA their 4th infantry division and a heavy cruiser.

09. Jan/Feb 1941. Southern China. Philippines.

The USA is still in control of the Philippines and will try to reinforce as soon as it's practical.

In southern China, things are pretty much at a stalemate.
