Maybe this is just me, but the last few Matrix games I have bought on the original release date, were impossible to download for at least a week.

Bought the 30 Years War yesterday and the fasted download speed I can obtain has been 24 Kbs... Yes, I'm not joking. Meanwhile software updates, patches, MS downloads, etc etc are running at over 1 Megabyte.

A week from now I'll be able to finally download my game at a speed that doesn't require 17 hours or more. As you know, I'm off-grid and in the rainy season so power is at a premium and I can't let the computer run for that long.

Anyone else experiencing this kind of slow download?

I can understand the servers getting overloaded by heavy demand, but can't this be anticipated and steps taken to handle massive download activity?

Hi Rhonda,
I've just tested and it took less than 2 minutes to download the Thirty Years War (our last release) 1.6GB file installer.

Please note that the files are not hosted in our servers but in the Amazon professional cloud system.
Bandwidth issues are almost always a problem somewhere between our servers and your computer rather than a problem in our side or in your side.

Please don't hesitate to contact us when this happen. Open a helpdesk ticket or contact via support[at]slitherine.co.uk or even pm me. We can always provide a download link for you from our own servers.

Appreciate the response :)

Tried the download again and it's running at 37.4 KB/s (12 hours left for the download). Windows 10 Task Manager Performance tab is showing the download running at a maximum of 520 Kbps. If I pause the download, task manager drops to 0 Kbps so there is nothing else running in the background.

I've never been clear on translating between KB/s and Kbps... that an 8 to 1 ratio? Bit to Byte?

Anyway, too damn slow for me to let it run. Solar batteries are low after another Arizona "Monsoon" cloudy day so must shut down the computer and everything else in the house that takes lots of power (like the refrigerator and freezer) if I don't want to be in the dark for the next 10 hours

I'll try again tomorrow and then ask for a direct download link if things don't improve. I've gotten some weird download speeds on Steam at times, but not on a consistent basis.

Direct download link provided and working perfectly! Crisis resolved

Another reason why Matrix/Slitherine is my favorite publisher!
