ORIGINAL: zuluhour .... I would elect Dan as the worst WITP player ever. because: He left us hanging after the earliest counter invasion in RL or WITP. MAN< I WANTED TO KNOW IF HE COULD PULL IT OFF!!!!!! all hail the gentleman from Ga. brass balls and cannon balls..... I ought to set the record straight! Zulu is referring to my game with John III that ended around Sept. 10, 2013. It wasn't I that actually pulled the plug on that game, but rather John III! However, in the interest of the "whole truth," I had seriously floated the idea of calling the game for a variety of reasons, including some real life matters and a massive case of AE burnout. I had requested a ceasefire and it's all but certain that I would have soon resigned, but John called the game before I could make that formal. :) As to the topic of this thread, so many good players have suffered so many public, highly embarrassing defeats. Especially Allied players. Anybody remember raverdave? On my own score, I had John sink most of the Allied Death Star on the south edge of the map in one of my first games, perhaps ten years ago. I had managed the run the Death Star out of fuel somewhere in the middle of nowhere. It was making two hexes per turn. I suck! ...then I LOOK farther down the thread and see this Posting... That was a GLORIOUS moment way down south! Would have really loved to see how that invasion of Sumatra would have played out. Dan is correct. He was facing serious burnout and is a GREAT player and Gentleman. Really miss playing him but he is in a better place chasing the Civil War and Southern dreams...check out his fabulous periodical. I do believe it is Georgia Backroads.
