Hi!

Yesterday I finally got around to play my first missions in CMANO after purchasing in the Steam sale. About 20 years ago I have been playing some Harpoon from 3.5" disks, so I kind of had an idea what was coming up, but I still managed to botch both my submarine as well as my surface tutorial mission by being sunk (well, I kind of didn't finish the Air tutorial either). That's 3-0 for the red team.

I'll do those again, but looking through interesting scenarios I am a bit overwhelmed (I did download the 120+ community scenarios).

What scenarios would be good starting points after the completion of the tutorials, before I start to sink my teeth into the Northern Inferno campaign?

Have a look at the "Uncle Mark" scenarios in the community package. I think they are good tutorials to get into the game.

I'm having great fun with the tutorial #1 on air ops.
I'm playing it several time to try to explore many possibilities with refueling, dogfight, evasion, hawkeye, airstrike and of course ground targets destruction. It seems to be a good way to learn ...
Watching this video was motivating and very helpful.

I agree on the suggestion for Uncle Mark's tutorials - they're great starting points and are also tutorials in their own right.

Also as a general suggestion, look for scenarios that have a low complexity/difficulty rating - lots of good small-scale actions to choose from.

All Uncle Mark's tutorials are excellent. Also very good scenarios for the beginning are "Stand Up, 2011" "South China Clash, 2013",
"Battle of Chumonchin Chan, 1950", "Raid on Kismayo, 2013", "Operation Lingkod Timog I, 2013"...

Thanks for the quick response! Yes, looking for a low complexity/difficulty rating was the obvious choice, but that alone doesn't make for a good/interesting initial mission, I guess.

One thing I noticed: Is there a way to re-access the mission briefings, respectively those event texts that pop up? So far I get the feeling that they are gone for good, once you close them :(.

I have successfully copied and pasted the text into notepad++, but then any formatting (as it is) gets shot, so it's a workaround at best.

Now I triumphed (340 pts) in Uncle Mark's NATO surface group tutorial. That does make me a Command master now, doesn't it? ;-) ;-) ;-)

Looking forward to playing it some more.

Another one that might interest you, and that is indeed made to be a training scenario, is my Carrier Battle Group ASW Test scenario. At the time there were not many scenarios that employed nuclear weapons in a naval setting (there are some others now, notably the Northern Inferno campaign). But you can also play it without the nukes.

Under the game tab you will find the Scenario Description and Side Briefing options.

These two will reopen the scen description and briefings for you.
