In the south I suspect Vinnitsia and Zhitomir are going to be crucial to my hopes....

Lets do a quick review of my opponent's turn to see what the damage is. There looks to have been one battle - but my brave soldiers stood firm and did not yield an inch to the commies!

To the decisions now, and what do we have:

- expand Romanian oil supply (8pp) Antonescu not impressed
- Tyre priority (5pp) von Bock pleased but von Rundstedt not happy.....
- Pressure from above (0pp) I am damned if I am spending pp on keeping von Brauchitsch happy..
- Atrocities - not sure what I am being asked here (4pp) for??
- I move the AGC FSB to Minsk
- I adopt a protective doctrine for the EinBbahntruppe (8pp)

I look at this theatre first. This is the situation at the start of the turn. The order goes out - take Odessa at all costs!

Interestingly the Soviet 117th Rifle Division is stronger at the end of my turn than at the beginning - 52 vs 57?????

Further north in AGC, the 1st Panzergruppe have only run out of flippin fuel!!! Not good - but at least Lvov falls....

To AGC now. The supply routes are all green but fuel is low for these troops to so I will need to be careful.

The turn gets off to a bad start. The Siege Artillery at Brest has reduced fortification to zero - but six German divisions are unable to take the city....

....and gets worse when this army group also runs out of gas....

The fuel situation is acute. AGN also run out of gas before anything like all their panzer formations get to engage the enemy - or in many cases even move....

This is because you have more units next to the 117th at the end of the turn. This raises your Recon value in that hex. The higher the Recon value the more accurate your info about what's in that hex.

You can see your Recon value in a hex by selecting that hex and looking at the UI header under Recon. You want to have +400 (I think) Recon to accurately see what's in the hex.

- I spend 5pp to transfer the FSB to Proskurow. Apparently this will take TWELVE DAYS!!
- I transfer the main airfield to Proskurow too at a cost of a further 4pp
- I also have to make a decision re truck columns and the 1st Panzergruppe. I still use as a starting point the fact that I do not want to upset my army commanders. I therefore spend no pp on this.

With the airfield and the FSB being transferred, it makes sense (I think!) to put the 1st Panzergruppe on rest and refit.

I switch artillery support to von Reichenau's 6th Army.

Command Focus switches to Stulpnagel's 17th Army.

The rain has fallen in large quantities, the Dneistr has burst its banks all along the river, and the surrounding land has become a bog. von Rundstedt thanks General Schubert for the report and enquires as to whether he has any more good news......

There are necessarily few attacks in this sector - indeed movement itself is hugely stifled. That said, the 11th Army and the Romanians continue to make (slow) progress toward the Bug.

Further to the northwest, with the armour of the 1st Panzergruppe immobile, the infantry of army look to assault Zhitomir, while further south two divisions of 17th Army attack the 193rd Rifle Division west of Vinnitsa. Both of these attacks are far from ideal, but there is no possibility of getting any other units in contact with the enemy thanks to the mud.

As expected, neither attack provides anything tangible by way of results.

Finally 6th Army are in the worst position of all. The entire army is surrounded in a sea of mud and barely make any movement east....

Who needs 'General Winter' when you have 'Field Marshal Mud' on your side?

The Finnish sector remains quiet. The Finnish 7th Infantry is pulled out of the line and placed on rest and refit. In Central Finland an attack against the 237th Rifle Division fails to yield the expected results....

Turning to reports and decisions...

- I spend 0pp and refuse to take part in Goebbels propaganda machine
- I support reducing civilian oil rations by a quarter 6pp
- I spend 4pp to ignore problems with the rail infrastructure
- I spend no pp to keep von Leeb happy re trucks - this turns my relations with Wagner into the poor department....
- Similarly I upset Gercke over a train issue, but relations remain strong.
- I further upset Gercke over artillery supplies for AGN - but I have to keep von Leeb happy...
- I spend 2pp to get convoys moving to Liepaja. That should please Gercke and Wagner!!

Another theatre - another load of mud....

Operations are limited to the important tasks of taking Riga and Dunaburg with the limited fuel available to the army group.....

This is a real mess. No fuel, the army units are surrounded in mud and the infantry some way from the action in most cases...

I change from a blitzkrieg posture to sustained offensive.

Okay so lets see what is what. A check of the previous turn is first up.

Not too much to be honest - there were 3 attacks (I think) but the Germans/Romanians stood firm.

Issues this turn: I have no fuel for AGC and AGS

- I decide not to relocate the FSB (0pp)
- I spend 11pp on truck repairs. I can't afford it but hey, I keep von Leeb happy!
- I spend 6pp to cheese Gercke off (but not too badly) - and manage to get relations with Wagner on track. Am I a general or an agony aunt?!?!

Progress is slow in the deep south. The whole sector is infantry only as there is not a single drop of oil in the bunkers....

The garrison unit in Brest appears to be invulnerable??

What a waste of time of a turn. That was just.... nothing.

Okay things have turned really sour over the last couple of turns so I will take a bit of time to try and find out where I am - it's so easy to lose track - especially with more than one game going on.

Army Group North

Posture = 4th Panzergruppe is reorganising into a defensive posture
Command Focus = 4th Panzergruppe
Tactical Air Support = 4th Panzergruppe
Theatre Artillery = 16th Army
Direct Fire Artillery Support = 10 divisions??
FSB = Konigsberg (truck columns travelling excessive distances)
Truck Maintenance = 5%
Units in R+R = 6 Fast and 5 Slow (who?)
Relationships – von Leeb = Positive
Panzergruppe Summary = 47% Operational – Transports 79% Operational
Units outside command range: 2 x Karelian Army
Other: Finns refusing to go beyond the 1939 borders
Partisan level = 2%

So what does all this tell me?
- I need to move my FSB to Dunaburg.
- I will therefore take the opportunity of resting and refitting all units. Only one army at a time apparently.
- I will move my airfield to Jakobstadt.

Plan of action. No further advance until units rested.
