Bug Severity: Critical

Turn: Sep/Oct 1939, 1st Impulse:

Situation: The first unit to move is a German land unit that overruns the Polish naval units in Gdynia, Poland [46, 44].

The only units in the "Baltic Sea" sea area are 3x German Convoy and a NAV He 115c.

During "Rebase Overrun Units Digression" while trying to rebase overrun naval unit(s).

The game does not allow me to rebase the naval unit(s).

I noticed the following message in the main menu bar.

"If enemy units are present, use Ctrl-Left-click to pass through the sea area. (esc cancels the move)."

Using Ctrl-Left-click when attempting to move single or multiple naval units generates the following message in any sea area (adjacent or otherwise).

"There is no reason to Ctrl-Left-click on this sea area."

Under Help the selection of "Test Naval Stack Move" shows no allowable movement.

The game cannot be saved and this locks up the game in the "Rebase Overrun Units Digression".

I reported this bug in CWif and I believe in MWiF also.

Please zip and post a saved game from just before the overrun.

Used your saved game and set die rolls so both CA and CP survived, then after the overrun I ran them one at a time by CTRL-Left-clicking on the Baltic and then the game switched back to Germany for an intercept attempt. Both times I chose "do not intercept" for test purposes. I was able to return the CA to Danzig and the CP to a port in England by next clicking on the destination port hex in both cases.

Possibly you had the unit in hand and were clicking on the North Sea - that would be the cause of the "There is no reason to Ctrl-Left-click on this sea area." message.

If there are no enemy units in an intervening sea area you can just click on the destination port when moving to port, and since the game knows the unit must reach a port, you see an "X" when hovering it over the North Sea. If there are enemy units that can intercept in a sea area you wish to move through, then you must CTRL-Left-click to enter it.

So I should not select the naval units during an overrun. Just Ctrl-Left-click the allowable sea area or port destination?

Once the overrun digression begins, you need to select them (and thus have them in-hand) because if there's more than one, it is your decision on running them one-at-a-time or in groups.

Then you would CTRL-Left-click on the Baltic (or in general, any sea zone you want to move into where you can be intercepted). Next the enemy should get his chance to intercept. If your units survive that, then the game should return to you with them being in-hand and then you either would be CTRL-left-clicking on another sea zone if you wanted to enter it next AND it had enemy units capable of intercepting you in it; or, you would simply click on the destination port.

To shorten Paul's [correct] description:

1: Left-click on the overrun naval unit.
2: Ctrl-left-click on the Baltic Sea (if that is where enemy units are), or the North Sea (if that is the first sea area with enemy units)
3: The Axis decides whether to intercept or not.
4a: If no interception or search roll fails, then left-click on the destination port.
4b: If interception succeeds, then naval combat if mandatory. After combat, return to 4a search rolls.
