Hello, I'm new here and saw this scenario, big fan of anything Falklands based..

However I cannot load the scenario - I get the following error message:

"You have (explicity or implicitly) attempted to load a database that does not exist on the DB folder. Please update to the latest public version of command etc etc...."

Any ideas what I'm doing wrong ? I have the latest CWDB and DB3000 installed from Jan ?

Good so far. The SBS/SAS units are in place and I'm dreading the sun-rise, I know those A4's are out there somewhere....

Finally ready for release!

v1.0 changes:
Fixed some invalid mission areas
Changed some mission parameters (depth, speed etc) with new options in V1.11
Added home ports for ships and associated withdraw/redeploy criteria
Added KC-130Hs for Argentina to allow more competitive AAW patrols and ASuW attacks

Thanks for the update - I'll give this another go.

Are the destroyers more effective now when they bombard the airport ? I noticed the missed on 98% of shells fired ?

There were some improvements made in 1.10 I believe to accuracy for sustained gunfire. For the purposes of this scenario the destruction of the fuel and ammo dumps as well as planes on the ground gives the most points. There's more than enough ammo for that

hi,

I wanted to try this scenario... but I immediatly ran into a rather big quest-stopper (or quite possibly a rather intense moment of stupiduty on my part...). Where am I supposed to drop the special forces. The briefing talks about several deployment zones.... but it does not mention where these zones are. Nor are there any on the map.

Did I forget to turn on somehting in the Mapview menu? Or am I somehow supposed to figure out where to drop them all by myself? I am confused...

Hi bertibott,

All of the drop zones, landing zones and rendezvous points etc are marked on the map using locked reference points. They are unselected at the start of the scenario and thus the names do not show.

You can see all of the named reference points by clicking and dragging a box over the entire AO and releasing the mouse button. This will select all reference points, thus displaying their names.

This is shown in the attached screenshot. Hope this helps.

P.S.
The reference points are automatically cleaned up when they are no longer needed to minimise clutter.

hi...

that's what I thought should happen... but it didn't... at least not for me. I tried a different scenario that should have zones marked the same way and they didn't show up either. So it's probably not scenario related.. I will open a new thread in Tech Support...

Hi - have recently purchased the game and very excited about this scenario.

However on opening I get an error message.

ARea validaton for mission ARG CBG Sae Control failed?

Hi Kaldadarnes,

On checking the version supplied with the community scenario pack and the one on the first page of this thread I don't see this error.

Where did you get the scenario from?

Edit: I've updated the file to the newest DB as well, file on first page updated.

Hi Apache - i downloaded via the steam workshop - so was wondering if better to download latest version direct? Happy to do so if it helps. There were 2 missions where it said the mission area on the Argentine side was not a valid polygon.

Wasn't sure if you were still checking this thread (but you obviously are ), so will try to replicate and give you the full error message.

Ah, that's ok don't worry about replicating the errors, it's just an older version. Evidently I didn't update the file on Steam with the final changes before release.

For some reason I can't update it through steam at the moment, so it's best to just download the file from the first page of this thread.

I'll raise a support ticket and see if I can figure out why I can't update the file on steam.

Edit: For the time being I've put an updated file here: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=875837818 so you can still use Steam if you're not familiar with the manual download and install

So...turned into a complete bloodbath...

- SF inertion went went fine
- Blackbuck achieved nothing with the Vulcan destroyed
- Roland missile cuaght and destroyed the recce harrier
- a flight of daggers and a couple of Pucaras were destroyed by Harriers with no loss
- Glamorgan was sunk by Pucara's off Stanley,
- Gunfire hit key installations at Stanley airfield destroying aircraft and the AVGAS tank
- Successful raid on Goose Green - no loss, and the Pucara threat neutralised
- 2 sky hawks destroyed whilst attacking ASW Helos
- Aproaching mirage's turned back to the mainland
- A raid on Stanley cost me 3 harriers
- Spartan sank 2 guided missile frigates but was then sunk herself
- Splendid sack ARA Vincentio de Mayo but was then sunk in turn
- A further raid on Goose Green in the gathering dusk cost me another 2 harriers
- An 16 hour seach for the ARA San Luis is finally succesful and she is sunk by a torpedo from an ASW Helo (HMS Brilliant I think)
- a Buccaneer was caught by Seadart from coventry in the last few seconds of the scenario

My final score was (cough) negative a few hundred! However had a lot of fun playing it and a lot of lessons learnt for a relatively new player (both interface and tactics...)

Interesting that the Vulcan got zapped. That was not really intended, although it seems the effect of the strike was similar to the real life result.

You're right, compared to real life it was a bloodbath. However I think that illustrates two good points. In reality, the Argentines had a primarily conscript force with very little will to fight. I suspect that with a professional and motivated force they would have taken a heavy toll on the UK. The British, while being a professional and very capable force, also knew that if they escalated the situation it could well end up getting rather out of hand for a relatively small task force very far from home. Essentially, I think both sides held back from maximum casualties and instead opted for killing almost as a last resort.

There were also a myriad of situations where blood was not spilled because of simple logistical hurdles. For example the mirages scambled to intercept harriers over West Falkland lost radio contact with ground control and couldn't find the harriers in cloud. Were they to engage in combat, at least two aircraft and aircrews would have been lost.
