bombardment, I have Dyslexia so excuse grammar, I am looking for a way to use the Artillery separate units to pre bombard the unit I want to attack from Either the hex next to it or prefer 2 away say from behind the attacking units I have not found out how to do this. In the Game from the 90's think was like a a Alt B key or something . I having been playing this game or it's grandfather's version before it came out along with the civil war series as way to pass long cold winter nights in VT
Now in TX just need a pass time

casual gamer wanting to do a bombardment first

Not sure that's the way to go. You can bombard from 1 or 2 hexes away as part of a ground attack. If you watch on message level 7 you'll see that air attacks are followed by arty at decreasing ranges before other ground elements join in. You can bombard separately but I think you'll get more benefit from bombarding with a ground attack.

just to support Mehring.

I've run a few tests just using distant artillery to attack and as far as I can work out you do no meaningful damage - not even disruptions. You do lose some guns, burn off ammunition and 'lose' the battle (for morale etc). Best to integrate the on-map artillery within a conventional attack.

I think this is ok, can't think of any instances were artillery was used in WW1 style week long preparatory bombardments as opposed to being used in the immediate pre-assault period?

Yes, as long as they have sufficient MP to join the attack.
