The disaster the Germans just suffered in western France shows why those units should have gotten out of there.

That high roll by the Russians helps. The Germans are defending the east bank of the Don. They would find their task much easier if they would retreat one hex so that the Russians must attack over the river.

I underline you really need to play against someone else to learn.
Germany gameplay is still pretty terrible, and as predicted earlier, if Axis does not gain a good edge in the early game they're pretty much toast later on. With ease.

I renew my suggestion to seek someone else (I suspect you're from the USA otherwise I'd offer myself up) to play against; and to move past the playing against yourself (which once got the ropes of the game, sort of stops improving your own skills).

Turn 29. May/June 1944. Allied #1. Western Allies. Ground Strike 5.

Why this groundstrike? If you would have added these factors during ground support, you get +3 for free. Now you get nothing...

I suppose the desired effect was to reduce (with movement afterwards) to 1 the strength of the Garrison, turning into an easy pie to trample on.

That's where though I'd not have used a rush for a unit I know it's anyhow going to be trashed with ease, and instead try to pin down that 5-4 INF that can instead flee behind the seine and help the defence.
The 5-1 would go nowhere, and if it is not being destroyed that impulse, 1-2 impulse laters it will.

Me too. My only defense was that I would ground strike happy given unlimited air missions during a super-combined. Will have to throttle that urge back next time when ground support will accomplish more.

Turn 29. May/June 1944. Axis #2. IJN. China Sea.

No combat.

Japan replaces lost CPs and puts two divisions on SCS in the China Sea. The two divisions are slated for Port Arthur, Manchuria which is currently undefended and, therefore, vulnerable to an allied amphibious invasion next impulse.

Japan uses their 3 moves of a combine to reinforce Port Arthur was a 2-3 division and to respond to Mao's flanking maneuver.
