Turn 34. Mar/Apr 1945. Axis #7. German U-boats. North Atlantic.

Finally the fourth and final sea area and the one with the greatest concentration of German u-boats (3 units). The German u-boats again come up short when they fail to locate allied convoys.

The allies dodge, what is hopefully, the last German bullet where their u-boats are concerned.

In addition to liberating these countries from the Japanese, the Western Allies will use them as a base from which they intend to bomb Japan back into the stone age. Well, as soon as they can get strategic bombers and fighters based there.

Turn 34. Mar/Apr 1944. Axis #11. German U-boats. North Atlantic. Sub Combat.

And these u-boats go out in a blaze of glory taking it on the chin in order to use all their surprise points to maximize damage against the allied convoys. Brutal! 6 allied CPs sunk and another 3 forced to abort.

The Soviets play their first o-chit of the game, which is for Zuhkov to double land attack factors.

Wow. The Soviets should have used a lot more than that.

Turn 34. Mar/Apr 1944. Axis #11. Germany.

Post movement, no land combat. Germany used their one naval move of the combine to put a German and Finnish ship, two ships, in the 4 box of the Baltic. Well actually, the German ship is an old Italian heavy cruiser under German flag.

They should invade Japan instead. Japan is a soft target at the moment. Several undefended minor ports. Allied troops can pour into Japan with so few Japanese land units. And Allied shore bombardment should make advancing along the coast fairly easy. Play a offensive on the first clear weather impulse and do a supercombined and invade on several hexes. Then you can transfer the air force to Japan instead of Korea.

The US marines are inland so it may take a turn to get forces in place. But I'll use May/June to position forces for a Jul/Aug landing in Japan.

I actually miscounted, it was their second o-chit. As of now, the Soviets have played 3 total. But they now have enough to play 1, if not every impulse, every other impulse. The USA has enough to play one every impulse for the rest of the game.

Don't you have any divisions to land from SCS? And AMPHS to use to invade with a few corps? Land in Niigata and then I can not see how the Japanese can stop you from advancing northwards. Or East. Just stack up plenty of loaded TRS that can land troops the impulses after the invasion.

Allied Impulse 1: Invade Niigata with three units. Rebase two fighters to the minor port.
Allied Impulse 2: All three units move out of Niigata. Three new units disembark into the port.
Allied Impulse 3: Leave the port again if you can and reinforce it. Empty a captured coast hex. Land a HQ on the captured hex that you emptied and land two other units on that hex.
And so on. That is if you have the TRS and AMPHs were they are needed. And some land units as well.

OK, President Roosevelt has order MacArthur and Nimitz to land in Japan next turn if at all possible and within the limits of acceptable risk.

Turn 34. Mar/Apr 1945. End of Turn. Germany, Use Oil.

Through Germany has exhausted their oil stockpiles they were able to use some of the remote Italian oil to reorganize units at sea. I didn't realize that was possible as the axis have no sea route to the stored and remote Italian oil.
