Turn 24. Jul/Aug 1943. Axis #4. Japan. China Sea.

The allies did try to cause some havoc. In the China Sea, the US Army Air Corps successfully forced a battle, even through they didn't have any ships are air units that could fight a naval battle. The US was hoping to shot down a Japanese air unit during the air to air combat phase. It didn't work and this "battle" ended after a single round.

Turn 24. Jul/Aug 1943. Axis #4. IJN. South China Sea.

In the South China Sea, the IJN elects NOT to try to initiate a naval combat. The allies, as the non-phasing player, weren't given the opportunity because no additional Japanese units were added to the sea area this impulse.

Turn 24. Jul/Aug 1943. Axis #4. Germany. Eastern Front. Land Combat. Stalingrad.

Oh my goodness ... the Germans had a 85% chance of capturing Stalingrad. They do not and lose two units trying. The only positive for the Germans was that they didn't roll a 2 which would have cost them 3 units.

Turn 24. Jul/Aug 1943. Axis #4. Germany. HQ Reorg.

Germany plans on using their one o-chit to reorganized all their HQ units at the start of next impulse. So all HQ units are used to reorganized all they can.

Turn 24. Jul/Aug 1943. Allied #5. USSR.

The Soviets make no attacks (air or land). They do what they can to bolster their defensive lines both in the north and the south.

Turn 24. Jul/Aug 1943. Allied #5. RN. North Atlantic. Arctic Ocean.

No attempt to initiate a naval battle in the North Atlantic or Arctic Ocean. The Germans, as the non-phasing player, wasn't given the opportunity.

Turn 24. Jul/Aug 1943. Allied #5. RN. Italian Coast.

However a different story off the Italian Coast. The RN choose not to try to initiate a naval combat but since they moved additional units into the Italian Coast the Germans did get an opportunity.

Turn 24. Jul/Aug 1943. Allied #5. Germany. Italian Coast. Round 1.

Italian NAV managed to find, surprise and isolate allied transports. They managed to damage CW transport carrying Hodges' HQ. This result was a fortunate one for the allies as the Italian NAV had a very good chance to sink the transport, which would have taken Hodges' HQ with it.

The battle ended after this initiate round.

Turn 24. Jul/Aug 1943. Axis #6. IJN. China Sea. South China Sea.

Japan uses their two naval moves of a combine to get 4 CPs with escort into the South China Sea. They choose not to try to initiate a naval combat in either sea area. The USN, as the non-phasing player, has an opportunity to try to initiate a combat if they so wish. They do no. With storms grounding aircraft in the South China Sea, this would potentially mean a surface battle and with 3 IJN battleships protecting the 4 CPs and no allied battleships in the area, this seems a bad proposition for the USN.
