Turn 24. Jul/Aug 1943. Axis #8. Germany. The Eastern Front. Artillery Ground Strikes 1 & 2.

Germany continues their all out push on the Eastern Front, which will include assaults on Kalinin and Stalingrad and a Blitz attack to close the the noose tighter around the Moscow pocket.

Turn 24. Jul/Aug 1943. Axis #8. Germany. The Eastern Front. Land Combat 1.

The Blitz attack is successful in that it takes the hex and shatters the two defenders. However, it costs the Germans a powerful SS Panzer division and disorganizes half of the remaining attackers. But a success, never the less.

Turn 24. Jul/Aug 1943. Axis #8. Germany. The Eastern Front. Land Combat 3.

Stalingrad holds again! And again, the assault missed by 1. As the last attack, if the Germans had made their fraction odds roll then the roll of 12 would have been good enough (barely) to take the city. As it was, the roll missed by one. Unlike last attack, the odds this time were 40.5% to take the city. Still, Stalingrad survived against a 71% and 41% assaults this turn. The cumulative odds were 83% or approximately 5 out of 6, which is equivalent to rolling a 5 on a 1:1 attack in 3rd Reich.

Turn 24. Jul/Aug 1943. Allied #9. West. South China Sea.

The sole (naval) reason for the CW taking a combine was for the Western Allies to get another shot at the IJN, especially their newly replaced 4 CPs, in the South China Sea. And it work. The RN, actually the RAF, is able to force a naval combat with the Japanese.

Turn 24. Jul/Aug 1943. Allied #9. CW. Artillery and Air Ground Strike. Kota Bhrau.

One of three units disorganized. However, the odds were just too bad for the CW to risk an assault. So land combat against this stack.

Turn 24. Jul/Aug 1943. Allied #9. RN. North Atlantic. Arctic Ocean.

No attempt by the RN in these two sea area to initiate a combat. No opportunity for the axis as the non-phasing player to try.

Turn 24. Jul/Aug 1943. Allied #9. West. Italian Coast. Round 1.

A disappointing result for the allies. The axis show the air battle down after round 1 of the first round. There is no second round as both sides are unable to maintain contact with the other.

Turn 24. Jul/Aug 1943. Allied #9. Western Allies. East Med.

A battle of attrition in the East Med, but an Italian NAV is splashed, which puts the Italian desert army out of supply.

Turn 24. Jul/Aug 1943. Allied #9. Western Allied. Land Combat 1. La Spezia, Italy.

The allies knew that La Spezia was important but didn't fully understand its importance until after capturing it.

Note the odds of the land combat, "Italy [67, 38]", which is +10B.

Turn 24. Jul/Aug 1943. Allied #9. Western Allied. Land Combat 2.

This attack becomes automatic which is a good thing because the allies roll a 3!

The capture of La Spezia put the axis units in southern Italy out of supply. This the unit under attack was disorganized and now out of supply meant that it defended with 3 factors, since it was elite, instead of 8.
