Turn 27. Jan/Feb 1944. Initiative.

The allies win the first roll. Since the allies have a +1 advantage on the initiative track the axis cannot request a re-roll. The allies choose to go first.

Turn 27. Jan/Feb 1944. Allied #1. USA. Kiungchow, Hainan. Land Combat.

USA planners when it came to the invasion of Kiungchow miscalculated several things turning what should have been a given into a white knuckle land combat attempt. Sometimes luck favors the idiot. The invasion succeeds but a slight cost.

The Chinese really want to build some air units and ART. The point is to be able to ground strike out of supply Japanese units. Since Stilwell is on the map, the US can base two units in China without violating foreign troop commitment limits. A couple of bombers with OK ground strike factors can be very useful, if the US can figure out where to obtain such a thing.

Also, was there an urgent reason for the Allies to go first this turn? In J/F I almost always defer to my opponent to get the initiative track marker as far in my direction as I can get it.

The complete conquest of the Italians should be top priority for the Allies. It's very nice to grab places like Hainan, but that invasion could have been better made against Italian Somaliland.

Albania should be attacked as soon as possible too. If you do these two things, the Italians are out of action. The Suez Canal can again be used by the Allies and there are the oil resources in the Middle East which cannot be used by the Axis anymore.

I don't think you are realising the importance of a complete conquest of a major power. It's devastating to the Axis side, if those Italian units are giving up the fight and vanish from the game.

Free up the necessary units for those attacks. It's far more important than anything else the Wallies can do at this moment, IMHO.

Generals Courtenay & Centruur, hero's of the first world war seen at a high level meeting with Winston Churchill and Franklin Delano Roosevelt. It is rumored that these two generals asked very pointed questions on allied war strategy.
