ORIGINAL: Odin Hello guys, in my current Guadalcanal game AI has 150+ Fighters at Rabaul, mostly A6M3 i believe. Sending my B-17 and B-24 bombers in everytime results in a lot of damaged aircraft, and some of them shoot down, while scoring only a few hits on airfield. Thats eats me up...now i think to use my beloved P-38 as escorts against Rabaul, but when i compare them in the details, the A6M seems quite better at any altitude. Aside from that they have only 55-60 Exp...i am not shure what will come out. Or will they perform better in a sweep? Suggestions? Thanks:-) Or you could try being realistic with the assets you have and formulate an operational plan which takes into account the force capabilities which you have rather than some wishful thinking. Alfred Put another way... so, we're two Area Commanders having a rum at the O'Club in Brisbane... We'll Odin, sounds like you've got a tough nut out there in Rabaul. Why are you attacking it at all? Oh, you want to kill off the Zeros. Ok, Sweep is a better way to kill them faster vs. bombing them. Jorge had some great points on effective sweeping. OR So, you want to jam up the airfield and keep if from operating AC against your invasions in the area. You're going to need to get rid of the fighters before you can really do damage to the base from the air. You may want to consider a "3" punch approach. Sweep daytime, bomb night time while fighters remain strong, then send in a BB TF to bomb the crap out of e'm of couple of times to hurry the damage along. Once the field is heavily damaged, even if there are still quite a few fighters you should dominate during the day for both sweep and bombing runs. OR You want to invade Rabaul? Really? Bartender...this man has had too much rum! Happy game'n! Kevin
