Am I missing something, or is there a way to see what stacks have generals in them without clicking on them?
Thanks

Good point... I don't see any.

The short answer is, no.

The longer answer is that perhaps something might be done in a minor update in the future. I wonder if we can get a consensus on the best way to indicate this? I'll let Glenn weigh in when he gets a chance.

This seems like a very essential piece of information to be able to see at a glance on the map!

Too bad it was missed, hopefully it will be added soon.

Smaller flags for those without generals?

I like that...

Edit: a tool tip with General's name would be nice too.

Put an Eagle on the top of flags where a General is present.

Vive la France!

You should be able to move any army stack, whether you have a general present or not. No army would be sitting in the filed without a commander. Someone would ultimately be in charge and entitled to make the decisions about whether to stay or move.

Just make it so that any army without one of the standard general counters automatically has a generic general of the lowest quality with it. The minimum quality can vary by nation based on historical accuracy. Perhaps 3 for Spain, 4 for Austria and Prussia, and 5 for Russia. Something like that.

The 2 most important pieces of information to know at a glance when looking at an army is the total number of troops and the quality of the best general. It would be good to have both of those numbers available on the main map.

If this were a 'simulation', then of course every army should be able to move.
However, it's a game where many systems are abstracted, including the economy, recruiting, supply, and movement.
The movement activation system is meant to provide the player with a limited number of options so that they are forced to plan and prioritize. It is meant to be challenging.

That said, we are going to change this rule a bit to allow generals to move by themselves without using an activation. This should make managing armies a bit easier.
