The one on the right is a babe. Someone has to keep the Home Front going, I could make Crop Circles with her.

Correction, the one in the middle is the sweetheart here.....

No, warspite1, you aren't allowed to give her anything. Not even the tip.

Picking up survivors of the USS Indianapolis. It was greatest single loss of life at sea in the history of the U.S. Navy. 300 went down with the ship. The remaining 900 men faced exposure, dehydration, and shark attacks as they waited for assistance–only 316 survived.

Shoot that damn....

One of the early California cheese commercials had some California cows talking about how they heard people in Wisconsin tip cows and they felt they weren't getting properly compensated for their hard work.

This quiz was pretty easy but I only remember getting one wrong, not two. The one I remember getting wrong was about what the next planned target was after Nagasaki and Hiroshima. The multiple choice was Tokyo, Osaka and Kyoto. I picked Osaka. They said Tokyo. If it were up to me it would've been Osaka.

Curious. I thought it was decided not to bomb Tokyo with nukes. I would have picked Osaka as well.

Off To The Internet!!

<edit>
I do believe your test was incorrect While this is but one article, I can't find anything to suggest Tokyo was an approved target. Just a pipe dream by the folks in the field.

http://www.warbirdforum.com/third.htm

In the Spaatz Papers at the Library of Congress manuscript section, there is much radio traffic generated on Tinian in the second week of August. The U.S. Army Strategic Air Forces wanted the third bomb to be dropped on Tokyo as a wakeup call for the Japanese government, which was stalling on agreeing to the United Nations surrender terms. (That this could have been seriously proposed is an indication of how woefully uninformed USASTAF was about the destructive power of the weapons it had delivered to the Empire.) Back came a message, presumably from Hap Arnold, saying that the decision had already been made that the target would be Sapporo in the northern island of Hokkaido. (I read this material while researching a magazine article in 1995.)

<Edit # The Next One>

A much more detailed answer...

I'm sure I recognize that hallway in Vegas!! I'm guessing she was there for the rodeo. They attract fine stock from all over. Wild cow wrestling is big in some parts of the world.

The next three posts are dedicated to Bullwinkle58. Some of you will know why. The writer of this column grew up on the South Side of Chicago but instead of being a White Sox fan he chose the Cubs. He's a Vietnam Vet who worked as a journalist in Arizona for awhile before coming to St. Louis and working for the Post-Dispatch. He has two kids, a son and a daughter. The son rebelled against his dad and became a Cardinals fan, but he managed to teach his daughter to be a Cubs fan. Bill has cancer and I don't think he's long for this world, so the events of this week are especially poignant. The comet reference, aside from the obvious, is I think a Mark Twain reference. As you may recall Twain (Samuel Clemens) said that he had arrived on Earth with the appearance of Halley's Comet and planned to leave with its next appearance, which turned out to be true.
