The 2-3 AA should not be stacked alone. Alone it only defends with a strength of 1. Doubled against armour it is 2 in defence, but Germany has 2 strength armour so he can overrun it after a break result. That is if the weather is fine. And it could happen if Germany attacks and ends the turn and then begins next. A fairly likely result.

Better that the 2-3 AA defends in the frontline where it will be stronger than the 3-3 against armour. And the 3 strength corps is strong enough to avoid being overrun. (unless it is next turn and Germany uses a land offensive)
warspite1

Okay the 3-3 and the 2-3 AA have swapped places.

Are you okay with the British moving to Antwerp?

Chinese and USSR to go. Any thoughts?

I suggest that USSR use one land move to move the Communist Chinese Warlord.

Suggested Chinese move.

And the other suggested USSR moves.

Edit: The cavalry slowly advance into Persia so that it can reach further if the weather clears. The 3-3 captures the swamp hex so that supply to the division can be drawn through that hex. And next turn it can join the offence as well.

Edit2: This is the other 4 land moves.

Did you move the French Corps in Oran one hex East? That way is within reach of the Italian division even in bad weather.

It didn't - I was worried about an amphibious invasion if they got the initiative. But have moved it now.

I assume no Chinese in the south need to move (i.e. only those in the picture above)?

That leaves the USSR and Eastern Poland.....

No land moves left for Poland and rest of the USSR.

I moved a couple of Chinese in the South, or rather central China, but made no picture of it.

Now that the surprise impulse is over, most of the hexes defend with the notional unit. And with only one division to invade I am not all that worried for Italian invasions.

So Ormster what's the plan? Try and end the turn or get the Poles sorted out to take advantage of the reinforcements?

You know where my vote lies.....

Are we going to begin our impulse now or sleep on the matter?

I have not even considered passing with the Allies. Although CW might need to prioritize a combined. And I would look if France could do a combined as well even though I suspect they must do a land impulse.

Lets formulate some plans and re-visit tomorrow once we've had a chance to think. I want to see what Germany has still organised. Important impulse ahead - aren't they all?

Did Italy do a naval move?

Edit: And what were their land moves?

The advantage with a French combined is that then they can assault Algiers and search for the German convoy in the Baltic. The downside is that the situation in France needs more than two land moves.

They didn't say but looks like they are making a move in northern Italy and will soon be heading over the French border.

Yep, that's about the size of it. Similarly with the CW a naval is needed - but we will then squander the chance to put maximum Poles on the ground - although I believe that we could still achieve this via a combined (provided the CW did not want to move any of its land units).

If CW makes a Combined they do want to do land moves as well. Maybe 1 Polish unit gets to move.

Annoyingly the Germans have placed a land unit such that the Polish division cannot now reinforce Warsaw However, there may be a more useful - threatening - role for the division anyway....

It could be that they wanted to stop the Warsaw factory to produce for CW. (The Cyprus resource needed only 1 CP to reach Warsaw)

Indeed.

Time for Soviet focus to change then.

The French can get a 5:1 +1 on the Italians i.e. the French cannot guarantee taking out Algiers. I'd rather try and bolster the French front with the extra move this free's up.

If that is the only three land moves you plan, then I would rather prefer moving the two units in the Maginot line and then do the attack on Algiers with the last land move.

Well the moving of the 7-4 Infantry north of Warsaw was very clever as it stops the Polish Warsaw Militia from setting up. I would never have thought to move that unit....

I'm just not sure its worth it. There is a good chance of losing a 5-3 for a division (and not getting Algiers back anyway). The Italians are heading for the French border in force now the cavalry has opened the door.

I would not call a 10% risk of losing the 5-3 a good chance. I would call it an acceptable risk. Without that attack Algeria will be conquered by Italy. If the attack succeeds I would say that the Italian plans for the first turn failed. Otherwise it is a success.

Yes - that is with using up both fighters as bombers.
