Well we suspect something big is happening in the Reverse game, but it would appear there are big discussiony type things going on in this game too judging by all the posters names I've seen.

Wonder what that is all about?

Undoubtedly, but its more a case of what are they going to do about it that intrigues (and worries) me

If they are worried we should not be. Part of war games is to get the opponent to worry.

Not all that bad either because now I can complain even more about our rotten luck.

One would think partisans would appear in China and France. but, no, they appear in Malaya and India where the chance for them to appear is huge.

Soviet End of Turn orders:

Production Planning

Save Oil in Leningrad

RTB

Both subs return to Vladivostok

Reorganisation

Reorganise from 2 x Bushehr: All units. Would have left the subs if it meant not taking the extra oil, but I don't want to be without any air units.

Production (16):

PARA (5)
ARM (6)
Pilot (2)
LND (3)

Reinforcement:

5-4 INF and 7-1 GARR in Vladivostok
3-2 AA in Minsk

May I suggest you produce as many MIL as possible to stack the border with Germany?

That was less nice chits than I had hoped for. But it could have been worse.

No new US entry options. This time. US wouldn't mind beginning to send resources to USSR just to give Germany something to think about. But when CW has no possibility to ship them without aid there is, alas, no point at all.

I will remove the PARA this turn and swap the LND 3 for a LND 2. This gives 3 MIL.

Ormster I am missing something with the defensive Garrison values but don't know what. Don't worry that the exact numbers don't agree with your version as I have forwarded to start of next turn and placed some German units in Konigsberg - its the calculation that MWIF makes that is the issue.

Garrison value
Germany = 30.5
USSR = 38

Offensive Chits
Germany = 29
USSR = 26

When I add the two together, they agree with the Neutrality Information screen
Germany - 30.5 + 29 = 59.5
USSR - 38 + 26 = 64

But I do not understand the defensive numbers.

Defensive Chits
Germany = 21
USSR = 0

Garrison Value (It's 1941 so there is no amendment to the value)
Germany = 30.5
USSR = 38

So when I add the two together
Germany - 30.5 + 21 = 51.5
USSR - 38 + 0 = 38

This is not what the info screen states

That Kirin/Changchun position looks tough. But soon the snow will fall...

P.S. Where is every Trek fan wargamer's favorite unit - Khan, KHAAHN!
i.e. the Mongolian CAV?

Sometimes, I order Genghis to build a little village in the middle of the Pripyet Marshes and air drop him hay for his horses from the wonderful TB-7 flying hay-wagons. They can load up one heckuva lotta hay in place of all those bombs.

But Genghis Jr. to the nth power doesn't like to just sit around in a swamp during a War, he likes to ride. Ordering him to terrorize the innocent Persians always has that nice ancient history feel. Other times, it is amazing how effective the Mongols can be teamed up with British "Guards" Cavalry in forcing those Finnish skiers to ski west instead of east.

So I hope to see Genghis Jr. Jr. Jr. Jr. Jr. Jr. Jr. Jr. you-get-the-idea go on an adventure in this game too.

Or as Medieval Evil Villian might say - Release the Hounds!

The Mongolian Cavalry, together with 6th Army, the 1st Siberian Corps and 3rd Cavalry Corps, are the initial units that will form Yeremenko's 2nd Far East Front.

Working their way south from Blagovyeshchensk, the Mongolians, working with 6th Army, are the units responsible for conquering northern Manchuria (and taking Tsitihar and Harbin in the process).

Make sure you get the rail lines from Tsitsihar, as well, so that you can use the resource.

The plan is bigger than the mere resource. The Soviets intend to open the Trans-Manchurian Railway asap (dependent of course on the weather) using the Mongolians and the 3rd Cavalry Corps.

Unless you reorganize one of those two units with an air transport, supply will prevent you from clearing the rail road this turn. I suspect you know this, as your arrows end in the farthest hexes they can end this turn in.

I have to say that it is remarkable how the Allies have pulled this game out, after the quick collapse of France.

Right now, I think the Allies are winning.

The loss of Gibraltar hurts, of course, but is almost inevitable if the Germans go for Spain. The key thing is that the Germans haven't gotten much past it. The fact that Spain hasn't yet been conquered is remarkable. The Spanish ulcer has cost the Germans greatly. Looking at the Destroyed Unit screen shot was a revelation. The Axis should not be taking heavier losses than the Allies at this point in the war, but they did.

That depends on a) the weather, and b) when I choose to rail the HQ. I am not going to risk running out of time and fail to rail the HQ, but it is possible to achieve this this turn, and if not, then next turn latest. However, even if not, the Tsitihar resource will be available at the end of this turn.

Edit: I've just realised how appalling my sentences were

It's still very finely balanced in my view. I still don't understand the garrison numbers and how the Germans are able to declare war on the Soviets, but whether correct or not, there is still plenty of pain that them Narzeyes can inflict. Then there is the question of when the hell the Americans actually enter (given the aggressive Axis opening I think the Allies have been rather unlucky with chit picks here) and who wins the initial German/Soviet and Japanese/American skirmishes will be very important.

The Soviets cost the Americans a couple chits...

I would use the CAV to flank the Japanese and go for the conquest of Manchuria. The whole Japanese position in Asia is in grave danger.

Building SYNTH plants early for the Axis is a grave mistake and now the Allies are reaping the rewards, a bit early.

After the events of the last turn the German Kriegsmarine is no longer deemed a threat to Allied shipping.

The German air force, the Italian and Japanese forces, are unfortunately still a clear and present threat to Allied ships.

A double move in Asia might have been nice for the Allies right now. But then holding the turn Initiative in January might be worth more.

So instead the Axis won the die roll and picked to go first.

But then rolled sloppy weather. Classic World in Flames.

And it looks like the Japanese might feel the need for a Land impulse and start a retreat in the slop.

But just using the word 'retreat' and 'Axis' in the same sentence in 1941 is very good for the Allies. Well done.

CW will do a naval impulse with French support.

US does not feel particularly lucky at the moment. US has a 40% chance of declaring war on Germany and Italy. And if you feel lucky then we can have a go at it. Thoughts?

Your opinion is seldom disregarded. In my humble opinion that is. I asked because I wanted your input.

If you refer to recent events in our other game I strongly objected because I didn't feel it the right time to change the plan of action. Might I add that it was your plan of action as much as mine.

Anyway. I am on the fence on whether to DOW with US or not. The situation is not critical on any front. The US DOW chance will improve if we do not DOW. But at the same time we need to begin with DOW attempts at some point.

If you say yay to the idea to DOW Germany and Italy with US then we will do so. If it is nay then we wait for better odds. So what should it be? Yay or nay?

Can I do the first part of our impulse? Up to land movement? If so, any actions you will perform before the land movement?
