When/if you try this later in the war, the Hellcats will make such a difference, add in the better AAA I think it has merits.

Later in the war I would imagine that this would be the Allies' MO. Not that you sail into the heart of the empire, but at a given focal point you have a huge CV TF (no air group mod necessary) go in and obliterate everything. Invade, conquer, rinse, and repeat.

I know I'm a beginner but I would like to comment on the carrier trained vs not carrier trained.

In my opinion it makes no difference in terms of losses and kills and etc. BUT. I've noticed that my air units that are not carrier trained gain skills and experience at a lot slower rate than those that are. May just be a weird coincidence but I digress.

I am not positive, but I think the carrier-capable units suffer higher op losses than the carrier-trained ones when flying missions from a carrier.

Yes, but from what I've read and experienced its not that great a difference. At least if the pilots have decent training to begin with.
