I don't know if I have expendable forces in the region. All I have, I think, is the good stuff (xAK-t's, yes, but the 18-kt variety, plus xAP's).

This is what I have in theater:

2x Akagi CV's
1x Ruykaku CVL
1x G.6 CVL
3x CVE's
2x Ise BB's
1x Amagi BC
1x Kongo BC
1x Niitaka CA
2x Myoko CA's
2x Aoba CL's
1x Tokoro CL
2x Furutaka CL's
2x Nagara CL's

So I can make a serious push, but only in one direction, I think. I must be wary of the 2x USN BC's (although one ate a fish the first week of the war), a few cruisers (Aussie and Kiwi), and 4x CLV's. I can prevail in a pitched battle, but I don't think I should divide my forces.

Thoughts?

Don't use anything that can be converted to AK... they are not needed now, as with amph advantage, everything is a LSD... but later on you will need desperately those poor-man APAs

In my game I have converted so many Aden and Husimis that I have lost count of them... and I have lost 9 xAPs and several AMCs either on amphibious assaults or enemy ambushes, but I haven't put any of my precious AKs at risk

EDIT: what is your aim? are you planning to invade Hawaii?
if so you might need to go nuts right now, as you have already telegraphed him your intent and he will certainly keep reinforcing PH.

Otherwise, I would say cut your losses, come back later if you wish, you still have 2 more months of Amph advantage. Midway is of little strategic value; too far away from Pearl for invasion support, and at the same time too close to Pearl so that he will take it back as soon as he has some forces

What's the Japanese economic situation like in BtS? Also, plans for air war? What's the best way to grow supply in the home islands? (sorry for the general questions, but you are probably a better Japan player than me)

Don't know how good a player I am. That will have to be seen. My opponent does not pull punches and, if I am not careful, he will win before he should :)

These are the economic numbers for this scenario:

AT START

Supply: 3,229,967
Fuel: 4,104,140
Oil: 3,132,160
Resources: 7,072,400

Jan 14th, 1942

Supply: 2,228,750
Fuel: 3,698,436
Oil: 2,837,411
Resources: 6,441,840

All but supplies are going well. The reason I have burned a million supplies is the setup of the economy:

- Vehicle factories at 35x, all six.
- Engines factories at least to cover use.
- Expansion of engine research factories (especially Ha-45).
- Expansion of airframe production.
- Setup of airframe research factories.
- VERY minor naval shipyard expansion.
- Expansion of Repair Yards:
--- Hiroshima & Nagasaki to 122.
--- Yokohama to 102.
--- Kobe to 100.
--- Shanghai to 63.
--- Tokyo to 62.
--- (future) Hong Kong to 62.
--- (future) Singapore to 62.

My plans for the air war can be read in a previous post. Expensive in supply at first, but otherwise Japan will be toast before her time.

As for growing supply in the Home Islands, a point must come (soon for me) when total supplies increase instead of decrease. I am now only decreasing about 3k per turn (because I am still building up some factories), but it should end before the end of the month.

These are the current strategic stockpiles:

- Heavy Industry: 118,077
- Manpower: 111,448
- Armaments: 27,677
- Vehicles: 135 (it has begin to increase now)

- Navy Shipyards: 1726
- Merchant Shipyards: 443

I do turn off factories when I don't need them, to be able to stockpile heavy industry.

That is about it, really.
