Not intentional. I put 15 year old Seasprite's on her! (DB 2389 from 1978) She should have DB 2389 or 577, the late 80's early 90's versions.

On my list, thanks

Hi Gunner,

I'm not sure what your thoughts are on SOSUS and Surtass ships?

Cheers.

The SOSUS network is essentially down, the sites in Norway & Iceland are in the wrong hands. Shellburne, Argentia, Brawdy, St Mawgan, Barbados, Bahamas & Bermuda all took hits (cruse missiles or saboteurs) in the first hours of the war (Walker & Ratkai get an assist). With the system compromised and only about 1/3rd of the stations remaining, and the system is 35 years old at the time; I wrote off the tactical use, but it still provides higher level national intelligence, hence you know the rough numbers of subs operating etc. BTW, the system made a cameo appearance in NF 4 off NY harbour.

SURTASS is another thing. Much newer. I think they would be fun to play with and this is and ideal situation.

Thanks, will look at it tonight

Neither do I

OK here it is again. This time it's got some T-AGOS and an AS for good measure.

For the AO/AOR pls see the notes from post 26

Additionally there is a second import file which has:

T-AGOS 3 Vindicator coming NE out of the Carib
T-AGOS 8 Prevail coming out of Norfolk
T-AGOS 19 Victorious South of Capetown, I imagine that these ships did a lot of research jobs around the globe

The creep speed of the Stalwart class is 3 knts but man that is massive sonar coverage!

Just for something different, I added: AS 36 L. Y. Spear with a load of Torpedoes heading for Rota.
I am not sure how this will work but its supposed to be tied up in port to be able to resupply subs. Be interested if that works or if the game allows her to resupply subs at sea - that would be difficult in real life I think.

Enjoy

A few more suggestions/scenario creep...

It might be useful (or perhaps not) to have a radar at some of the NATO airbases such as at Panama and Puerto Rico.

Additionally I found one of the WP subs via ESM, I'm not sure he should be radiating? It was B-380 Gorkovsky in the Caribbean sea.

Also might it be worth removing some of the empty "enemy" single unit airfields? I notice Nicaragua and Argentina for instance have a few and this could save a few units on the unit count.

I only have 1 month and 1 day to go....

Radars - yes

Radar on sub - will fix

I want to keep the extra bases, they're all single unit so I think it adds less than 10 units - future expansion, uncertainty, possibility of a lua add to cause the player another issue etc

Your burning up the waves! Any major fights yet?

Thanks

I've taken out most of cuba to keep them quiet. Also I noticed an Argentine Learjet doing recon in the Falkland AIDZ, the Tornado I sent up to warn them off didn't get a response so shot them down, so they declared hostile! I sent a Tornado GR-1 attack against an Argentine port. So far only sunk 1 WP Sub.

I did just find one WP sub that doesn't appear to have a mission, K-438 just off the coast of Brazil.

Minor issues I've noticed is you've spelt Argentina and Ascension Island wrong. Also you have put Ascension Island on the wrong island.

Keep up the good work, really enjoying it, my eventual plan is to get as much as possible into missions and similar and to try and let it run at high speed.

Might just be for me but K-527 and K-481 (of the east coast) appears to be on the surface at full stop. It doesn't appear to be in a mission just sat there.

I think B-215 is the same just north of Haiti.

Also I may have accidentally attached venezuela.

I'm not sure what's causing this but for some reason the number of active units in the scenario seems to have nearly doubled in a short space of time:

NF126-1.scen - 2581 active units, Zulu 23/02/94 18:52
NF126-2.scen - 3241 active units, Zulu 23/02/94 19:04
NF126-3.scen - 4365 active units, Zulu 24/02/94 00:28

Please see the saves in this zip file:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/hu9ntcxnm6cfwj7/nf12.6.zip?dl=0

it's too large to attach to the forum (larger than 5Mb).

Any ideas as it's very slow to run now.

Hmm

My only thought is Sonobouys. If you show them in your 3rd save, you can almost walk from the US to Europe! I didn't think that one through...

Is the game still playable? When I run the save its chugging along at about 250ms at 30 second compression.

Yeah I'm getting between 200 and 500ms at 30seconds. It is still playable sort of, I'm just leaving it to run whilst I'm out. Sometimes it pauses when a pop up occurs. It's down to 3800AU now 24/02/94 07:00 Zulu.

I'll keep plodding along.

Have all the reserve MPA squadrons come online yet? I didn't check. If this is only the regular ones at start I'll have to thin them out. Another 6 squadrons start arriving between 6 & 10 days in.

Hi Gunner,

I'm unsure how to proceed much further here, the game is pretty slow due to the AU now so I have to leave it to run whilst doing other things.

However when I return something has happened that if I was there I could have addressed.

I also think my initial tactics/strategy was possible the wrong option. I setup the P-3s to have Patrol areas to try and cover the whole Atlantic with roving groups of ships. In hindsight I think would have been better to try and get larger groups of ships in a group with the transports and then have the P-3s directly covering these.

I really love the scenario, it's very involved but unfortunately I think due to the performance with 4k+ AU it's difficult to achieve much.

I wish I could provide some advice on what you can do to reduce the unit count or similar but I'm afraid I can't at the moment.

Cheers!

Thanks Ojms.

Is there anyone else out there playing through this one? I might take a stab at cleaning it up this weekend.

A couple questions to anyone who has played more than a few days:

- have the Soviet subs given you any real problems?
- have you received a massed missile strike mid ocean?
- Do you think your forces are overpowering, inadequate or just about right?
- Do you need the reserve P-3 Sqns? One thought I had is to reduce the number of AC available in each regular to about 5 then have 4-5 AC show up with each reserve Sqn as a 'round-out' element
- are the Lua scripts working? Are random ships showing up at about the right rate? Are the reinforcement ships showing up OK
- Anything else you can see to make things work smother, more of a challenge for the player?

Thanks

Noticed that there are planes that start out in the scenario as "maintenance(unavailable)", ie 4 F-14s on the JFK. Do these planes
ever become usable. one would think that in the course of 38days they are repaired.

I'm playing this scenario from time to time. I'm still in the first day or so. I like it for a scenario that I can run while doing something else on the computer and checking the scenario about every hour.

So far I've sunk about 7-8 subs, lost 3-4 escort ships, but no merchants. I am slowly configuring my initial convoys. In addition, punishing Cuba was fun. I did adjust it by making the planes that were unavailable, ready in 2-7 days. I suppose that over a month some planes will break down for 2-7 days, but the game does not model that occurrence. Perhaps, a feature could be added for long scenarios.

I'll put it in the feature requests topic.

Can change loadouts with lua to get the in and out of maintenance effect.

When I first set up the scenario I though it best to keep 20% on maintenance as that is fairly standard and in a long scenario it wouldn't be the same airframe but would have the same effect.

I think I changed that policy sometime during the build so some squadrons have AC on 7 or 8 day reserve status but by the end of the 2nd week everyone is 100% which is not realistic.

I need to get back to this one and tidy it up a bit.
