Gareth Bale!!!

Outstanding .

England? Getting exactly what we deserve. What did I say about Belgium the other day? No speed, no determination, no passion and in England's case no skill. Sterling? It's not rocket science Roy. Kane? He's knackered - and had been since a month before the end of the season. Everyone else? Just like against Russia, Walker and Lallana and Dier are trying. The rest? Pathetic. Look at the difference in passing and movement between England and the decent teams....

Probably you're right, he should have picked Vardy instead of Kane.

Hard luck on the Welsh to concede so late, but it was a fair result over 90 minutes.

We just looked so much better 2nd half - still a work in progress but at least our destiny is in our hands.

Well after a great first few rounds my prediction radar seems to have fallen off the scale somewhat

Still, early days.....

You could see the confidence leave Sterling as soon as he missed that easy shot.

Vardy is a good option from the bench for England, when he's using his pace against a tired defence. If England played the same way as Leicester then he should start, but they don't so he shouldn't. But he's going to start the next game I expect.

Still, as Mr Vardy once said, "chat **** get banged". Lesson there for Gareth Bale

I missed most of the match as the boss seems to think we should have been doing 'work' as we were at work

Congratulations.

Is it me or the teams are quite close? Portugal, Germany tonight

On a serious note, someone must stop th1207. What a guessing machine! He won the other time IIRC and now top of the league again with 43 points

Next France and Spain.
Both only scored in the final minutes of their last matches.

OMG!!
He's done it again. 10 points(51) ahead of second place (41).

C'mon. we must put a stop to this.

That was ridiculous. The Czechs were so out-classed...then Modric gets injured and suddenly its 2-2......

No. The real problem is that we were getting the score right (0:2) and then the Czechs scored two goals. Made us lose 5 juicy points!

And th1207 is unstoppable! Should we send the assassins now or we just wait?

Yes, you are missed. But rules are the rules. Icelanders are enjoying it and deserve a lot of credit. 300.000 people and only 100 professional players

Iceland should not be underestimated. The won against Holland away, if I recall correctly.

They defeated them twice. 2:0 and 0:1. Amazing.

They also trashed Turkey 3:0 IIRC

If the Magyars don't wear their home kit in the next game, I'm going to complain to my MP

Depressing inefficacy of Portugal...
Pathetic Ronaldo...

And once again we go to the last group game with an obligation to win...

As to our Matrix competition, I propose that we all quit already and declare th1207 champion...

As usually his season ends with the last Real Madrid's match.
He wants to play 90' in all matches... he just can't.
That's the reality, and he should know this.. he's 31 old now, and should be humble to accept that he's in no condition to play for the Portuguese national team.

I think Portugal has the same problem that England has. When you get a decent player he is built up so much that he becomes undroppable, unsubstitutable - no matter how bad they may be playing. It then gets into really bizarre territory when those players are picked even when injured or not fully match fit.

It's a real problem - and a real managerial weakness. Even Capello, for all his big talk and big reputation, even he went down the same path.

As far as I can see, as an outsider looking in, the problem for Portugal is slightly less clear cut in that even when playing at less than 100% Ronaldo is still a top quality player (unlike some England players I could mention) and even last night after miss after miss (including the penalty and the disallowed goal) I still thought he was going to grab the winner!!

I understand your point. Still, dropping one of the best players in the world is not an option (except the disciplinary thing when a player crosses the line).

It has to be the coach's fault IMO. As I see it he has no clue as he can't handle Ronaldo's massive ego. He's built the team with this premise: let him have always the ball, let him kick it too. This is in my opinion a dystopian team. No harmony, no balance. In fact, it is not a team. And of course it is the coach's fault.

And yet they might make it to semi-finals (that's my prediction in our competition ), who knows.
