MA40. Allied #5. Italian Coast. Damage.

The loaded Italian TRS avoids any damage.

So I'm learning here. I thought regardless of the first roll I'd get a second damage roll against the TRS. I didn't realize an abort will prevent that. So, I see I should saved 4 surprise points which would have given me a destroyed and two abort rolls with the ability to select a target. So I could have ensure that the TRS would have at least been damaged. Live and learn.

MA40. Allied #5. (Artillery) Ground Strikes.

British and French heavy artillery open up on German front line positions, but only manage to disorganize one unit. On the up side for the allies that one unit was a German armor corps.

IT and JP take combined actions and GE takes a land.
Below are the possible sea combats. The axis will initiate in the N. Atlantic and CSV. Will you initiate in the Italian Coast. The new IT task force is in the 0-box.

1. Let the battle default to a surface battle.

2. Use all allied surprise points to increase damage to the Italian ships / CPs.

3. So it'll be your choice on how to apply destroy, damage, loss to the Italians.

4. For the allies, apply results first to the French heavy cruiser Algerie until no more results can be applied. Then apply all results to the RN Resolution until no more results can be applied. Then the same for the Royal Sovereign.

5. The allies will stay after the round.

Expenditures of surprise shown below. Forgot to screen shot the damage results.
Here from notes: Italian D on BB rolled 1 - sunk, damaged the two Italian CA's, and aborted one of the damaged CAs
Allies, sunk the Algeria and aborted the Resolution and Royal Sovereign. And then onto second round in the next post.

Disastrous first round continued in the second round. The zone is cleared of all Axis shipping. I could have used one of those 1's in my sub searches.

Italian GS on Paris was ineffective. The GE ART was able to disorganize a FR corp SW of Brussels.

This is probably a good time to remind those following our AAR that Pat and I have agreed upon a non-aggression pact at the start of the game between Japan and the Soviet Union. This pact is good for 1-year and will/can be renewed years (i.e., Sep/Oct turns 1940, 1941, 1942, etc.). The only condition of the pact, besides that Japan or the USSR won't DOW each other is that both countries are forbidden from DOW'ing Persia.

This turn does end, which doesn't displease me even through the axis now have a +2 on the initiative track and win ties. Another axis impulse this turn could have very well meant to fine weather axis impulses in a row at this critical point in the Battle for France.

Only one partisan pops up and its a Polish partisan that's deployed in Katowice to deny 1 non-RP to the Germans this upcoming production phase.
