Take the 3-2 ARTY as the loss.

Here is the MJ40 impulse 7 ending position - note the turn did not end. European front is not going to plan, though it was nice to break the Maginot and the Italian Alps positions open. In China, I have had more success than I am use to, if I can string a long enough turn together, I should be in great position. I do need to reinforce the Manchurian front. The Russians are looking quite bellicose (see next post).

MJ40. Allied #8. RN Port Strike. La Speiza.

Italian port defense gets the jump on the RN Baffin bombers. You have surprise points.

Do you wish to use your surprise points to increase your AA (x3) or avoid combat?

MJ40. Allied #8. Western Med. RN.

The RN elects not to try to initiate combat in the Western Med. The axis aren't given the chance because they have no organized units in the sea area.

Here's the weather for the next impulse, or impulse pair.

It's back to Pat for his impulse.

Italy and German took lands. Japan took a combine.

Only one attack and that is in Europe at low odds. Result is ok, but not great.
You get a choice on the loss. I can seen reasons for selecting either, so I'll leave it up to you.

Can I ask why this attack was an assault? With result 14 it would have costed 3 units for Germany.

Germany had three loss units and didn't just want the French units to appear again as free reinforcements?

The screen shot is taken when France allocate their loss, hence the blue colour.

Back when the combat type was decided the form would have been grey since it was Germanys call. (More German armour and a clear hex)

And in this case, apparently, the German player thought assault was better for Germany than blitz. Hence the question from Mayhemizer.

Thinking back, I believe I thought it was a FR choice. So, it was definitely a mistake on my part if it was GE choice.

JP moved a few CPs and a few troops in the south of China and Italy moved a bit in the Italian Alps. Turn does not end.

MJ40. Allied #11. France. Baltic.

The French sub still operating in the Baltic without the chance of a safe return looks to get lucky and sink some German CP. However, the search rolls are 3 for the allies and a 10 for the axis. No contact by either side.

MJ40. Allied #11. RAF Strategic Bombing.

I got excited when the RAF rolled an unmodified 9, which since the raid was unopposed is modified to a 10. Good deal, I thought. The Germans have lost another PP due to strategic bombing, but they didn't! A roll of 9 wasn't good enough. I have some much to learn.

MJ40. Allied #11. China.

If things keep going on in China like they are this may be a game where I should surrender China. Before this game I wasn't sure why I would ever do that but Pat is kicking my butt in China.
