I believe I believe I would have 6 surprise points versus just the 0-box.
If so spend 4 to select submarine combat and the last 2sp to reduce the ASW (which should be 10 factors I believe).
If I have 8 surprise points or more let me know.

No, you have 6. I will spend 4 for a sub combat and 2 to reduce allied ASW.

Turn 8. Nov/Dec 1940. Allied #2. Italian Subs, North Atlantic. Sub Combat.

I applied the damage to the sub with the lowest attack factor (2 vs 5). Both subs aborted to La Rochelle.

For those of you keeping score at home, the CW so far this turn, which is only in its second impulse, has lost a total of 9 CPs and has seen another 9 CPs forced to abort.

ND40 i3:
Actions: GE, JP land; IT combined
If possible, can you change the location of the IT sub in France to Bordeaux (it was aborted during your impulse). I'd like it to be where it cannot be port struck. This could be done when the file is back in your hands or we could just gentlemanly decide not to port strike until they get another chance to go to sea (I'll return the other sub at sea to wherever this sub is in the Return to Base phase).
Also, thinking about it, during your impulse I should have been able to initiate combat with the German fighter or the Italian NAV in the West Med. Did the game actually limit it to only the Italians or were they just the first one to come up?

The Italians make no naval moves, but they do initiate combat in the W. Med. What would you like to fly? I noticed a new fighter in Gibraltar.

I can and will move the Italian sub. Also, I can change disorganization of the unit that initiate combat in the West Med to the German fighter if you like. I can do both when I get the turn back if you wish.

Great. Do you wish to react anything out to the W. Med?

I'll fly the Beau-fighter out of Gibraltar to the 2-box if the axis attempt to initiate a naval air combat.

By the way, let my know which two air air units you wished disorganized for trying to initiate this and the last naval air combat.

Ok, it will fly out. I only have air, so you know it can only be air. But in general, you need to react before the search rolls and before you know what the sea combat is going to be.

My luck continues, searches of 1/5. I engage only the 2-box with 4 surprise points. I choose A-A and use surprise points to move my A-A up one and yours down 1. Final result, both NAV clear and one of your fighters is aborted. Where do you wish him to land?

The AA was good and turned back half of the bombers. Luxury liners turned transports did get attacked, but with superb seamanship the result was minimized (they need to abort - where to?)
Staying for round 2?

1. Abort her majesties to Malta.

2. The CW looks forward to round 2. Really, they don't but they're keeping a stiff upper lip.

Round 2 resulted in no contact on rolls of 6/8. Note, I never committed your subs to the combat - made no sense for them to be involved.

ND40 i3: Ground Strikes
There were two in Europe, the one on Paris, shown below, hit its targets. The fighter bomber attacking the neighboring ARM missed on a 6 (needed a 2) - missed the image on this one.

ND40 i3: Ground Attacks
There are three ground attacks. Two in China and one on Paris.

First in China, center of the line. Resulted in losses on both sides. The Japanese do not advance.

Second on the north part of the Chinese line. Thinks went perfect here and finally an engineer survives it's first combat.

Third on Paris, for the third time (my heart rate was going up as I approached this roll). Again, I rolled low with another 5, but I made the fractional this time and did get a shattered result. So Paris falls, though most of the German troops are too tired to care.

P.S. three attacks on Paris. First, last turn (SO40) at +11 rolled a 5. Second, last impulse at +15.5 rolled a 4 and missed the fractional. And this third at +15.5 rolled a 5 and made the fractional. Hopefully I now have all of these poor rolls on critical cities out of my system before the battle in the East starts.

Which unit do you wish destroyed?
{sorry, had to edit the post to get the right image up}
