Each unit is assigned a unique tracking # (e.g., the 5th field in the .btl/.bte file "0" unit lines). But it's for game engine internals only, no way to display it normally within game. You could try inspecting the .btl/.bte files as you go along, but good luck trying to make sense of them, and what all the numbers mean. The data file "format" is, to the unpracticed eye, rather formless. And varies by file version number (the very first line in each .btl/.bte file). Cryptic to say the least. In future, and for future games in the Series, we might reveal the unit tracking IDs in the F2 Unit Handbook display (or by some other means). But not for JTCS, which has been end-of-lifed.
