On the second scenario of the Stalingrad campaign, there is a MinenRam PzIII with the lbm of Tiger E as well as its armor value. I also scan the German oob, and could not find the MinenRam any where.

I know...I got that "problem" too!! The tank looks like a Tiger E and doesnt have mineramen capabilities. The strangest thing is that the tank has 3 machineguns and weak turret armor, not a 88mm as the Tiger E. The campaign is great though...

Sorry about this - what happened was that the oobs changed right after I sent the Game in to be added to CD. I am going to post a patch to fix this error and post it on the SP Arsenal Page. Again, I am sorry for this development error that krept in at the last moment. If anyone spots anther oob error - please send me the details and I'll add it to upcoming patch.

The Update will be Posted on the Arsenal Page at the Military Gamer as well as a few other sites and it will be small ;) Next - for those playing the Stalingrad Campaign please save your Deployment per battle. You may want to redo a battle to attain a better result. You will start off in Case Blau and proceed to Stalingrad. Games will become much harder as you go. If you make it to the Romanian Retreat Battle beware that a loss will send you back into Stalingrad and its conclusion. Let me know how the game is going :D

Got a draw on the first scenario. Figured one platoon of engineer each will be able to capture the two forest objectives while the rest go for the town and the hill. Run out of time before one of my platoon was able to capture the southern most forest hex. Those Russians are tough to roost out

Ahh - the next few games will be easy :D After the First battle. Just think of the Poor Commander who was tossed into a major tank battle for his first battle with a new command! You did well with a Draw ;)

You might manage with a Minenram if you buy some smoke lobbing tank like the PZIV with the 75L24 gun to mask the area. I believe the Minenram actually has a 75L24 gun, doesn't it?

Heh Actually I put that "minenram" to very good use. Since it had the heaviest armor in my kampfgruppe, I used it to spearhead my advance while carrying a squad of engineers. It turned out to be the best unit I had in the whole battle! :) [ May 10, 2001: Message edited by: victorhauser ]

I am playing the first scenario of this campaign too. And it seems the Russian get way to many tanks as re-enforcments. They get so many t-34 and a few kv-1. They completly destroyed my panzer force, all I have left is a few Pz III, 2 brumbars, 2 StugIV, and 2 Pz-IVH (I think). I counted some 14-18 Russian tanks. At the begining they had t-60 and other light tanks, they were easy to deal with, but man, this is freakin impossible. I reached the out-skirts of the village I am suppose to capture, but 2 hidden AT guns took out half my Panzer force, I couldn't find them. And I am having one hell of a time rooting out those Russians from the forests. All I am saying is, should the Russiansget so much armor as re-enforcments, and most of those tanks being t-34 and other being Heavy Kv-1s. BUT, Awesome scenario and AWESOME game.

Rommel22: You just have to know how to deal with masses of Soviet tanks. I pretty much killed every T-26, T-34, and KV-1 in that battle and lost one Pz IIIj and one Pz IIf. The key is combined arms and using all the resources at your disposal, not just your tanks against his. One tactic I use with repeated success is to fire with an infantry unit to draw fire, then when the enemy tank pivots to return fire at my infantry I get good flank shots. Another tactic is to use smoke to create fire lanes and killing zones. Remember the USMC Recon creed: "Improvise, Adapt, Overcome." Happy Hunting :)

Thanx VictorHauser, I'll try that out. My problem was, I only deployed tanks against tanks. At first I had no problem of course, dealing with t-60 but man, when those t-34 and kv-1 showed up. I nearly crapped my pants. I lost all my tanks, except a few. Thanx again for your help!!!

That's how you do it - Tactics !! As you all move through this game - Tactic's are the key to win. Battles 2 - 4 are easier and shorter :D but after that - watch out

Sounds like he could've used an infantry scout platoon to find the ATGs in the first place. Maybe put 1 or 2 on tanks or HTs and drop them at first sign of resistance, then pull the armor out of sight and hope leaving the scouts inactive will cease to draw fire on the scouts should any fire fall on them, therefore resulting in their later ability to move and spot the ATGs from where they were dropped. Hopefully they won't have to move more than another hex forward in order to spot one or more of the ATGs (Of course the scouts can take advantage of the cover of buildings unlike the vehicles). I mention 'scouts' specifically, because a small test I did yesterday indicated that the recon 4 man teams were spotted just as easily as my full infantry squad. Those 2 less men in the scouts, seem to make a pretty big difference. My test isn't conclusive, but it did surprise me to see the 4 man teams spotted so easily (I usually use 2 man scouts).

I just finished battle number six, Kurgan Hill. I used all of my support points to purchase a FSJ Company and Gliders. These forces were able to open the 'back door,' causing the Russians to break cover to deal with it. Managed to get a decisive victory :) I don't know if this is 'cheating,' but it was a hell of a lot of fun. I think this is the best campaign i've played yet. Lots of purchase choices, clear and realistic objectives, and an enemy with many tricks up his sleave. I'm just going into the heart of the city now, so maybe my opinion will change over the next few days :)

Has the updated campaign been updated yet? And if yes, can you post a link to it please? I looked for it last night and had no luck finding it. Thanks :D

For what it's worth, the minenram was completely unarmed; it didn't even have a turret. This wasn't a problem, though; as it never existed. A prototype was completed, then the whole project was dropped. Exactly what was supposed to be on the front boom, I can't find out; a flail seems rather unGerman, so perhaps it was some kind of plow.

The MineRam can represent several odd German Proto-Type mine clearing vehicles they tried during the war. So far, it has be removed from oob and only be found in secert ;) I still can't get over the Glider's Landing behind the Kurgan :D :D

An Observation... It seems to me that Soviet units "go berserk" too frequently. I've lost count of the number of firefights I've engaged in where the Soviet unit (pretty much all unit types from what I can tell) suddenly goes from Routed to Ready with Zero suppression. If each game turn represents several minutes of combat, should Soviet units be going berserk at a rate of several per minute of battle?? I might believe a rate of a handful per Battle, but a handful per Turn seems about 20 times too high a rate of going berserk. I would like to see the rate of Soviet (and presumably Japanese although I haven't tested the Japanese yet) berserk units cut by a factor of 10 to 20.

The Stalingrad Patch that fixes the Icon problem in Battle Two of the Stalingrad Patch will be posted soon on several fine SP sites: Sp Arsenal Page, Tankhead's site, The Armor Site, and the 28 North Battalion site. These should be up by Monday!

I hope to have the patch up very soon. I've made the edits to my web page on my system, only to find my Site server is down temporarily. As soon as my site is back up, I'll get the update online. Sorry for the delay
