I just played the "Yom Kippur War, 1973: The Battle of Latakia" scenario that is part of the base game scenarios. During the mission I was able to easily dispatch all of the Syrian vessels using the Gabriel missiles, without facing any opposition from the Syrian vessels. I was not fired on once, despite closing within 10 miles of the Syrian vessels to fire on them.

Sorry, I'm a newbie at this game so I'm not sure what would be wrong with this mission if I tried to look at it in the scenario editor myself. Maybe some of the database or gameplay changes since this game was first released have caused problems with this mission?

Added to our list of things to look at.

Thanks!

They're firing. Take a look at this screenshots. You should see Syrian Styx missiles and torps in the water.

I'm guessing you may have fired and cleared all detected (yellow) contacts. What does your log say about what you killed?

Thanks!

I was checking the ESM signatures of the contacts, and once the ESM report showed that they were Syrian navy I manually designated them as hostile.

Yeah your approach was totally reasonable. Your sensors are more advanced etc.and could get those id's before the Syrians. Could of happened in real life too!

Thanks!

Mike

Syrian Styx missiles are very vulnerable to Israeli jammers. When I have played this scenario, I have never lost a single ship as Israeli Navy.

That scenario runs fine. It is one of my benchmark scenarios for testing. It has never had an issue.

There's one other thing I need to mention. In that mission I first sunk the two patrol boats, then I sunk a Komar. After sinking the first Komar, the other two ships (Osa and Komar) in the group started to spin around in circles. They stopped sailing straight and kept just making counter-clockwise (I believe) circles.

Can you post a save of the ships spinning in circles?

Sorry, I tried the scenario again and now I can't replicate what I saw the first time. This time, I WAS fired upon, and there was no odd "spinning in circles" behavior. The next time I see something odd in a scenario I'll definitely grab a save of it before reporting it on the forums here. I know it would help a lot if I had a save for it. Sorry about that.
