With more-and-more play time spent within the Between the Storms Mod, I am beginning a fairly serious update to the Mod. Over in the AAR, we have had a serious discussion over the Japanese 4EB LIZ. Completely agree with a batch of educated commentary there and have done some downgrading the Liz to reflect the engine issues. I've lightened the payload, slightly reduced the range, and lowered the cruising speed.

Take a look:

Have worked to fix the conversion problem with the Japanese CAVs. They will not convert over to the full CV. I figured out that there was an upgrade dated at the same time as their conversion and this caused issues for the conversion.

Am still debating on the deck armor conversation regarding these two ships. My source indicates two+ inches of deck armor so that number appears correct. Strong enough to hold out a 1,000lb GP bomb but not an AP.

You increased the normal range from 800 to 1600?

Loaded the revised Mod so we can see the same screen and not the Editor page. The Editor page can lead to misunderstandings:

Had some down time today and did re-writes of the BTS: Lite and Heavy to explain the changes and differences in the Mods on the RA website. Think they make better sense...

With turns coming in super slow from Sean, I have taken some serious time and done a comprehensive new page on the ship additions/changes to the Between the Storms Mods:

Kaigun: I have the Japanese done throughout the period from 1922-1941--20s, Circle One, Circle Two, Circle Three, Circle Four, and Circle Five. This should provide total clarity to the Japanese starting fleet and ships building.

United States: The Treaty additions as well as pre-war additions are fully detailed.

France, Australia, New Zealand, and Dutch additions are included.

Took about four hours to do and it is the first time I have gone through the BTS: Lite and Heavy in this manner. Pretty illuminating...

Dear all,

Can someone update me please as to where all these mods actually are. Are any of them totally finished my opponent and I are looking to maybe try one of these but I don't want to do it unless there is something properly finished. As these cannot be updated as you go I assume.

We have suspended our game of another mod to await news on this

I'm currently playing RA 7.9 with another opponent which is going quite well except the issue of the George available in massive numbers in 42, you have been notified of this in threads. Are you changing that in any way to stop them being CV capable or something ?

Anyway I look forward to an update. Which is also the mod that looks like it will play the best. I'm still not quite certain what the differences between them all as well but then again I'm very busy and do not have a lot of time to read every single line.

I spoke briefly with John yesterday. RL has been very cruel to him lately. However, next week his Subway store undergoes renovations, so he promised to get some mod work done. I have week of Feb 25th as vacation. "Hopefully" by early March we should have something done.

Okay thank you for the update it's much appreciated. We have put our game of focus pacific on hold for now. If we look like seeing a very good update for one of these scenarios we may go with that. In my opinion focus pacific needs a major overhaul on the victory conditions and the power of the allies in 1942.
As regards my rRA 7.9 game we are now in January 1944 with the allies on some offensive in the DEI. it is always worth looking at some players gain turns to see how things are going. Remember what I said about the early availability of very superior Japanese fighters. That has only now just been offset to a degree by the arrival of the carrier borne Corsair.

Thanks Cavalry.

Michael is correct. Life here in the Cochran Household has become pretty crazy.

The store is about to undergo a serious remodel and we'll be closed for eight days. I HOPE to get all my work done to bring Treaty, BTSL and BTSH into line. The match with Sean is providing me all sorts of helpful experience for the Mods. Have found some conversion issues, lost artwork, and some truly boneheaded mistakes made in the design phase. Think we can do some serious polishing and then shoot the files to Michael so he can handle China.

A couple of other notes for you. One of my opponents has taken a look at the current RA - he says there are a lot of art emissions.

In my version of RA I have quite a lot of ships that have a strange pink outline.

Just for your information.

Also in my current version of RA there are two American CVE that are always trying to upgrade in Pearl Harbor but never achieve it. This is something that also needs to be corrected.

Haven't logged in on the Forum in quite a while.

I got both versions of Between the Storms updated and sent to Michael for his work on China. Once he has that accomplished then we shall publish the revamped Mods. Will work to extend that to RA and Treaty as well.

Has there been any reports of issues loading CLAAs?

Currently playing RA 8.0 vs traskott.
no opsec issues in this post as I have also queried him about any knowledge.

Currently I have a CLAA sitting at Singpore (level 9 port) with plenty of supply and can not load the 3rd/4th AA guns.

I am a bit hesitant to tinker with the game editor. Any thoughts or clues would be appreciated.

From your other post:
It looks to me that the 3rd and 4th AA guns do not have any ammo set in the scenario data files. I would say it is a problem with the scenario file.

thank you for the replies.
I did go into Scenario 50 and updated the first slot of CLAA upgrades to allow the same ammo as the first two slots.

The 2nd and 3rd upgrade looks to be correct.

I saved scenario 50 and exited/restarted the save game
and the update worked. YAY.

Sorry Dan. Didn't see the Post activity on the Thread. Am so busy with the family and stores right now, I rarely get a chance to look at the Forum more then once every couple of days. Will go back in and make sure this is fixed with the new releases. THANKS!

Real life always intrudes on our gaming.
Just so you know I modified my version and it is RA 8.1 (earliest release) and it was the first of 3 slots for the CLAA upgrade.

I think there is a method to update the database midgame, actually. I know I've seen "database has been updated" messages when running a turn over the course of my PBEM with John so far. But, I'll admit, I'm not sure exactly what it means so you might be right.

@Lecivius Hah!

There's actually a sticky in the main forum. Not sure if it does what you want for updating mid-PBEM:

It mentions Scenario files too.

Here is the recommended patch update procedure for the game file AND Scenario files.

5) UPGRADE to new version AND/OR copy/paste new scenario files into SCEN folder.

Like I said, I know nothing.
