Time to start the AAR. It took more than 5 hours to do the Soviet turn. Of course, more than 3 hours was spent setting up the TOE's and finding the units that they apply to...could not find NATO icons for some of the units so had to improvise. And I did not finish setting up the TOE's because my one good eye started to hurt.

Looking forward to this AAR. So much work went into the Mod, and I am excited to see it put through its paces.

Yeah, when I play, I honestly do without the TO&E, even if it is enabled. I am sure there are advantages to having it, just alot of work when starting up. I typically do 7-9 hours worth of turn when I do the Axis...

Germany turn.2 is now in Dropbox. Spent many hours playing Britain, US & commonwealth and still never completed to my satisfaction but
in the interest of getting files completed before too many days went by, I set myself a certain amount of time to play each and then got them out.....lol

In saying that it took me 5 hours to do my turn I forgot that I had saved the game earlier after several hours almost all of it setting up the TOE's. My second turn was much shorter but still a long time playing just one nation. I am glad we set up this game so we could save it...otherwise I could not continue it because of my eye problems.

It is good to hear you are all willing to continue despite the quite high workload (it does become a little easier with familiarity).

The size of the scenario probably stems from my preference for monster board wargames which I played face-to-face for over 20 years.

One of my current Triumph games has been put on hold due to a player being unwell. If anyone finds the time demands becoming too onerous, as a last resort I would be willing to step in and play a couple of the smaller Regimes to help ease the workload.

Thanks, Vic. Have saved some screenshots but have not yet had time to write anything.

@Larry:
Falco and I were talking about Spain being played by Axis player. Beside this making sense in historical context it was my idea to take some work from Falco who has a lot of nations to play.
I would prefer to keep Spain neutral. Axis wont attack Spain and as long as Western Allies dont DoW on Spain it wont join or support Axis in any way. I would set all production on defensive weapons, supply and PP, spending this on upgrades of defensive weapons only. All units would stay in Spain. No air or naval units would provide any recon for Aixs, as staying in ports or airports.
Is that ok for you?

Ok with me for Axis to play Spain. Makes sense. However how does that fact that historically Spanish troops fought for Germany in Russia square with
the notion that Spain should stay strictly neutral in this game?

As mentioned in a recent post in the Mods and Scenarios sub-forum, Triumph is not intended to be the last word in history accuracy. Any house rule players agree to implement is perfectly reasonable and I wouldn't worry about it too much.

In time, an option to activate Spain diplomatically might make it into the game but until then the suggestion to keep Spain neutral seems perfectly reasonable.

As falco mentions, Spain did have volunteers fighting for Germany in Russia. This is not entirely ignored, Germany begins the game with units belonging to the "Blue Division" already on the map. These units are German-controlled but are populated by Axis Minor people. As the game stands at present, it just means the Blue Division won't receive any Spanish reinforcements.

Ah, but if you like me, transfer control of the Blue Division to the Axis Minors, then you can restock it with everything it needs :)

Time to report from Axis side:

The AAR will first focus on war in the east as there is far more action than in the west.

During the first turns only Germany is at war with Sovjet Union and the Western Allies. Axis minors, SS, Finland and Italy stay out of war with SU.

The main strategy consists of two of strikes parts: destroy and encircle. Destroy mainly targets the enemy HQs and air force.

At Riga a small German units holds the city. Divisions of Army Group North shall achieve a breakthrough through enemy lines and establish a connection to Riga.

Combined attacks of divisions under command of Kuechler, Hoepner and Busch succeed in the task to secure the Riga area. They attack the Sovjet 34th army under command of Gen.-Maj. Kachanov (HQ position is southwest of Riga). Following the tactical order „Destroy“ the Sovjet HQ is attacked and elinimated, some divisions of 34th army are cut off, while others are in danger of being encircled and finally eliminated.

The Sovjet air base at the right flank of the advancing German forces has successfully been attacked. The SU air group is destroyed.

Tactical order "Encircle" is meant to break through enemy lines everywhere at plain terrain, advance quickly mainly with mechanised infantry and tanks and cut off frontline forces of the enemy. Later slow moving infantry shall eliminate the Sovjets after they have run out of supply.

Turn 2:
At Lvov, south of the Pripjat marshes, German forces try to encircle a large group of Sovjet units.

The northern bow of the circle towards Lvov is drawn by forces of Guderian and Reichenau, attacking along the railway line south of the Pripjet swamps. Sovjet 40th army under command of Podlas is defending here.

Army groups of Hoepner and Busch have passed by Sovjet 22th army under command of Ershalov. After both army groups joined east of Kaunas they attacked Vilnius successfuly and now swing south heading for Minsk, where the HQ of Timoshenko is expected. Sovjet 34th army, defending the area southwest of Riga, is completely destroyed.

North of the Pripjet swamps German forces break through the Sojvet lines and follow the railway line running from Brest to Minsk. Many divisions of 24th army Rakutin and 19th army Konev are in danger of being encircled while holding Bialistok and surrounding woods. There is only a small corridor open for their retreat. If German forces manage to close it, these divisions are cut off from their headquarters and the main frontline.

In Biscay sea German forces launched a surprize attack on a Royal Navy group. The whole group was sunk, while German navy suffered only few losses.

It was the only victory of the German navy. In the following weeks very strong British forces appeared in the Biscay sea and sank nearly all German ships and subs.

Meanwhile Sovjet command has reacted on the German attempts to neutralize the Sovjet HQs. Air defence is enforced. German Luftwaffe suffers severe losses in some of their attacks.

Its been a while since this epic was updated so I thought I'd better get one done. Alas, I was going to post screenshots but I don't appear to be able to do so on
this site so we'll just press on.

Feb'43, Western front: A combined British/Canadian invasion force has all but taken Norway. Oslo was taken in January after fierce resistance from a German battle
group that included heavy tank-destroyers. Narvick was also taken after strong German resistance. There is now only a German occupied port in the far north to
capture before the invasion will be complete. Hopefully it wont be too long before we will be able to wave to the Russians across the border advancing across
northern Finland! Some units were turned over to Norwegian control to guard strategic areas and cities. The remaining Allied units are being reorganized and
resupplied for the assault on the mainland. Free Norwegian units are returning from exile in the UK.

An American amphibious assault took place in Denmark two months ago. Initially battle groups under the commands of Patton & Deevers landed in northern
Denmark. Some supply problems have occurred but the landings have generally been successful. Expected strong pockets of German infantry have been curiously
absent. Aircraft and AA guns are in plentiful supply, though Allied fighters have coped well enough with this it seems. Aarhus & the Keil shipyard have been
taken by the Americans. Allied aircraft are regrouping in captured airfields. Vicious sea battles between Allied subs/destroyers and German subs/destroyers
have taken place off the Denmark coast. It appears that the Allies have the upper hand but this could be deceptive with perhaps some Nazi subs escaping into
the murky depths.

Last month a combined force of Guards Armoured British heavy tanks and paratroopers landed on the outskirts of Copenhagen. An initial assault was repulsed with
considerable losses. Hopefully heavy bombers and artillery can soften up Copenhagen in the coming months.

This month another British landing took place under the command of 1st Armour Lumsden west of the German shipyard of Wilhelmshaven. Fierce battles occurred
although the landing can be said to be successful albeit not without supply difficulties. Also combined Canadian armour/infantry and artillery landed this
month north of Amsterdam. The priority now will be to keep these units adequately supplied under battle conditions.

On other fronts, there has been a successful assault on Greece by Freyburg's elite New Zealanders with Australians in support. German resistance appears to be
light. However in N.Africa Rommel's Africa Corps have slowly but surely been pushing British and ANZAC troops back, although the situation is far from critical.
The priority now will be to reinforce Allied troops in N.Africa with heavier AT and armoured infantry.

Lastly there was a German landing in Plymouth, England two months ago. Happily, this has been solely confined to Plymouth with US artillery and armour pulverising
the attacking troops. It appears the numbers of US troops opposing them was a complete surprise to the Germans.

The Russian supply problem has become so critical that we have had to shut down factories and produce only supplies from ALL my locations that can produce supplies. But I still fall way short of the supplies I need.
