I just bought TotH and settled down to learning how to play it. With the help of the game manual (p. 22-36), I started with Tutorial Scenario 1 where an SS Lieutenant is supposed to move forward from hex 9.32 with a squad + attached LMG (the Americans are under AI). Here I get stuck. In the German movement segment I left click on the hex, then I left click on the Lieutenant on the bottom left of the screen. Then I push down CTRL and keeping it down I left click on the squad. I also click on the MOVE button on the right-hand side of the screen. If I then right-click on one of the adjacent hexes to 9.32 the stack will move there. But if I right click somewhere else 3 or 4 hexes away, nothing happens.
Why? Help!
I know this is probably a stupid question for the game's grognards, but if I don't get past this, what's the point?
THANKS.

Quite right. Whats the point so let those questions come and we'll help you through it.

You can only click on adjacent hexes when you move a unit of any kind. So if you want to move at a longer distance you would have to click on the hexes you want them to move to after every move the units has made. The reason for this is the possibility for the enemy units, Human or AI to fire at your units when moving. That's why you have to click on one adjacent hex at a time.

Paullus, excellent, thanks. It works. The manual, in both places where movement is explained, is frankly misleading and not at all clear on this.

I'm glad it worked. We will have to take a look at the wording in the manual. Thanks
