For those who think the game is too difficult playing as the Axis, I just received my first Axis Decisive Victory. I played the 1939 Campaign as Axis with the Allied AI having +1 spotting and 10% to production Although I have been a beta tester since early this year, I have never played the Axis past 1942, nor the Allied past 1941, as we testers received so many builds to test – which made saved games incompatible. Therefore most of the Allied AI moves were a surprise to me, and I had very little idea of the Allied production potential. Although the Germans were receiving 1200 PPs a turn by game end, I never ran out of units to build. Most of the Axis PPs in 1944 and 1945 went to rebuilding my air units after these were attritioned each turn by the Allied air forces in England. I also spent a fair amount of PPs on research, as well as operationally moving units around the Eastern Front to defend against the continual Soviet counterattacks. Even though I had conquered all of European Russian and the North Caucasus by the end of 1942, the Russians were still attacking my most turns, forcing my to keep large forces on the Western Front. I captured Moscow in August 1942. The Capital then moved to Kuybyshev - which I captured in Sept 1944. The Capital then moved to Perm - which I never captured. Game Chronology: 1939 East Front: Attacked Poland on 1st September turn. I moved these units and formed a line, with 4 German sub units, 12 hexes or so west of the Azores. Axis leave 2 open hexes (not ports) on French Coast to tempt Allies to invade there. 1945 East Front: Leninakan, Guryvev (Caucasus) captured Feb 11th Yerevan, Khoi (Caucasus) captured Mar 25th 1945 West Front: Gibraltar captured by destroying garrison unit with bombers in Morocco, then performing an amphib assault with an Axis unit from Morocco on Feb 11th. In retrospect I could have captured Gibraltar in 1944 but it did not occur to me as it was not a threat. Moved all bomber and fighter units close to French Coast in April. Started targeting British air units in England. Destroyed garrison unit in London with bombers, then captured London with an Axis para unit on Jun 21st turn. Just in time as I was advised that a large American fleet was transferred to the Europe theatre on the next Allied turn. I was advised that I had achieved a Decisive Axis Victory on the next Allied turn. Unit Losses: Brit – 161 Fr – 20 US – 134 SU – 387 Po – 11 Germ – 20 IT – 9 End of Game PPs: Br – 420 US – 800 SU – 560 Germ – 1200 It - 280 End of Game National Morale: Br – 25 US – 46 SU – 26 Germ – 134 IT - 125 I will publish some more strategy notes. I welcome any questions.
