After learning WiR I thought I was ready for PacWar.

Sadly no. So I tried GG SSI Carrier Strike on dosbox and loved it! Dated graphics, but so much fun. Unfortunately, no new update to the old game.

As much as I liked the graphics in UV, I still wasn't ready to tackle it again, so it sat in the box. Ditto WITP. I have Korsun Pocket, but couldn't get into it and so was cautious about purchasing a title that would sit on the shelf.

On old reviews from the CGW archives, I kept coming across positive reviews on CAW, CAW2.

I read the old run 5 magazine archives and read through all the old run5 forum posts and became more intrigued.

So I tried CAW2 on dosbox and loved it! Like Carrier Strike the graphics are dated, but then the 2016 Xmas sale came and I bought the remake of CAW.

Now to read through the old posts on this forum.

Anyone else still playing or new to CAW?

Hi Ab,
Yes I too just bought it in the sale.
Its fun - am having trouble with the sound on mine but apart from that really good.
Thanks for the Run 5 magazine links.
Happy gaming!
(Know if you can rebase aircraft from one land base to another?)

Cheers
Paul

Hi Paul

Just learning the game as well.

I don't know about rebasing the the aircraft, but if you read through the old posts you may find someone else has asked.

There are only 16 pages.😉

issue 16 of the run5 magazine has an index for articles for issues 1 to 16.

The CAW references are for the early versions, but provide insight into the mechanics of the game.

I bought this game when it was first released in 2007 having played the original game on the C64 decades ago.

Over the years I have lost the copy of the game I burned and also can no longer remember my email address that I used to buy it. I'm thinking about buying it again. This video whetted my appetite:

If you are new to the game don't forget the megamod scenario pack:

This adds many new user created scenarios.
