Recently bought a bunch of old 4x space titles at GoG during a sale a month or so back. On a whim I dropped Sword of the Stars complete into the basket right as I was about to purchase. Man I can't believe I missed this gem of a game back when it came out. UI is a little wonky and takes some patience to get used to it, but its time well worth it. Great strategy game easily one of my favorite 4x titles now.

I won't mention the others as I looked them over that day but didn't really spend enough time to say I played them.

I must have had a strategy itch to scratch as I also spent time in Eador Imperium when SotS turns got too intense and I needed to lighten the mood. Nice re balance of the Eador game, heroes are still important but no longer rule the battlefield, now armies are just as important and you need to pay more attention to tactics.

Jim

I put on the table OCS Sicily II. I'm still cutting and trimming the counters, but I'm looking forward to a relaxing solo game - accompanied by my first reading of Carlo d'Este's "Bitter Victory".

I have been playing some Etherium again - i dont see why this game got poor reviews, as it seems a solid rts game with a turn based interplanetary campaign

speaking of interplanetary though, i got an old game this week - When Two Worlds War from Impressions - they had a good range of strategy games in the 90s

I also got xp mode running on my win 7 pro and it is great for running old strategy games from the windows95-xp period that cant run or be installed in windows7

The reviews for the new Zelda make me almost want to buy a Switch. Almost. I'm afraid I would only play a couple of games on it and then watch it gather dust.

I've been playing:
Afghanistan '11 (Still in beta) - Working on a write-up for this game. Adds a LOT of new stuff to the formula from Vietnam '65.

Game of Thrones from Telltale Games- One of their interactive story type games. It's especially fun in this setting when you let go of the idea of doing the "right" thing, and just do what makes for a good story. You can't really lose the game based on your decisions. And terrible, awful things happen no matter what you do anyway, it is Game of Thrones after all.

Squad - Still probably my single favorite game of the last couple of years. They're about to roll out a big update adding a lot more vehicles to the game and changing up how some key features work.

It is also available on the Wii U, and what I have been reading is that there is basically no real differences graphically with either version.

I never thought that I would be using the portable aspect of the Switch but I tried it and I am hooked, the Zelda game is absolutely stunning on the "tablet" part of the Switch, may even play it on the bus tomorrow on the way to work!

winSPWW2 has also been updated - to Version 10.

Been sick this past week and didn't feel much like playing anything. But I did try playing some Don't Starve and Advanced Tactics Gold. Hope to feel better next week.

Order of Battle: Kriegsmarine (which I just reviewed on AWNT)

Pillars of Eternity - Just finished all of the expansion content, then did the 15 level dungeon under the keep, now on to finally finish the third act. I enjoy this game, but after putting in over 60 hours, I'm ready to reach the end! My completionist side won't let me skip any side quests or leave stones unturned.

Heroes of the Storm - The MOBA from Blizzard. I played it a lot at last year, then it didn't like my new network for some reason. But now they released 2.0 and its been really fun getting back into it with all the new bells and whistles. If you are at all interested, now is a good time to play, since you can get 20 heroes for free just by logging in.
