Hello Cantona66!
I've enjoyed your 1938 Calm Before the Storm mod since it first came out in SC2, it's the only way I enjoy playing the game so I was thrilled when I saw you put it out for SC3. Many thanks for that, you've done superb work.

I have one question though as I've got a problem with the unit sprites - and I don't have it with any of the standard SC3 campaigns or scenarios. When I load your mod - in either the editor or the game - many of the 3d units are not visible, just their round bases. They show up just fine as Nato counters though. If I look at the Franco-German border at game start, about half the units are displayed as round bases. If I turn the bases off, then there is just some text for the unit. It is not just that area of the map, the Italians units have the same problem in North Africa, as do others.

Have I installed something wrong? I've tried extracting the files with both WinRar and 7Zip (the latter seemed to give a better result - the editor no longer tells me that convoy scripts are missing when I open the campaign). I have also tried installing as a user campaign and directly to the game's campaign folder, but with the same result. Any thoughts on what could be causing this? I'm bummed, was looking forward to this awesome mod so I could get back to SC3!

Below is a jpeg of what I'm seeing. My graphics drivers are up to date and I'm running an alienware laptop with good processing power and a graphics card with 4 gigs of ram on it. I appreciate you help on this and thanks again for this excellent mod.

Regards,

Peter

Cantona66,

Just a little more information about this issue: At full resolution the problem manifests as in the screenshot in my previous post. When zoomed out the unit sprites are all there and correct. Perhaps this is a problem with the Unit Zoom Sprites?

Is anyone else seeing this or is it just me? That would be typical.

Cheers,

Peter

@pfinch
the problem is not with the mod,it is caused by slow download speeds via dropbox.
i noticed that the download paused 3or4 times.
each time the download resumed it skipped the file it paused at.that's why some of the bit map folders are incomplete.
clearly you need replacement unit sets.
you are in luck,i have made up 2 custom unit sets for calm38.
one for the 2D nato & one for the 3D sprites
the nato one is based on spires counter mod.i have adapted it by changing the ships & aircraft.
also i have added proper mechanized symbols & the nato symbols are now colour coded.
RED=BRIGADE
YELLOW=DIVISION
GREEN=CORPS
WHITE=ARMY
i can email the to you,if you want them

@pfinch
you will also need a new interface folder.
because cantona has not sorted that one out yet.
the mod was feeding off the vanilla interface folder,that is a different array.
he has rigged the mod like this,
MAJ0R05 germany
MAJOR06 italy
MAJOR07 finland
MAJOR07 romania
so in his mod poland is just a minor & finland & romania are now axis majors.
i have made up a custom interface file for calm38.
with it the correct flags & symbols appear on the decision panels on screen.
i can send you the interface file as well.

Grombit,
Thank you for your replies, that's very kind.
I had not considered the possibility that the Dropbox downloads were being corrupted.
Perhaps Matix Games should create a download section in these fora (hint, hint!)

I also appreciate your offers of the units and interface you created, I'd love to
have both sets of unit types.

Again, thanks for taking the time to respond and help out, very much appreciated.

Best regards,
Peter

I don't know if anyone has noticed yet, but the German navy has some of its major capital ships missing from the game. Bismarck,Tirpitz,Scharnhorst & Gneisenau are all missing?

Just like the Battlecruisers, Bismarck & Tirpitz are missing from the Unit Build data, they are in the production queue thou.

Also noticed the the Heavy Cruiser Blucher is sailing about in the Baltic 14 Months before she had been commissioned into the Navy?

I know from experience that modding the game is a massive undertaking,and I congratulate you on what you have created for this outstanding Scenario.

@kirk23
2 of those ships ,Scharnhorst & Gneisenau have already appeared in the game!
iam up to dec39.
will wait & see if tirpitz & bismarck appear later.
as for the blucher,since when did cantona claim his mod was 100% historically accurate.
looks like these ships are time dated to appear.

Hi there, thanks for the kind comments. My computer is too slow to handle the mod effectively ...
anyway, the scharnhorst and Gneisenau are linked to decision events to update to battleships or not, the Tirpitz is linked to decision event to Place it in Norway or not and the Bismarck is linked to decision event if to replace with 2 subs or not. The Blucher is apparently wrong date set on.

Hello, great job. By the way diplomacy is missing. If I click on the diplomacy button I get this and an immediate CTD.
Look at the pic.

It happens only if I play on the Allied side. If I play as Axis everything works fine.
Look at the pic what I get when I click on Allied "diplomacy" button.

Looks like you are missing a bitmap/png file. Check your png files and see if the major power/Allied folder has more files than the German/Axis folder. There should be the same number of png files for both.
