No complaints about any part of this very good game, just wan't to see some tweeks if possible, the AI should not invade Sicily ever, too easy to stop them from advancing to the mainland, and also to easy to stop the Allies advancing up north in Italy, WW2 proved that.

I have yet to play the Allies so I know not what I speak of, it takes the British way too long to beat the Italians in North Africa with or without facing the Afrika Corp, with the Afrika Corp and one more Panzer corp the Axis can sweep all of North Africa fairly easy.

If I sweep the British out of North Africa the British and the US invade France usually in early 1943 and that not only cause me headaches but usually turns the tide of battle against me because I have to move units from the Russian front to the Western front.

If I stall the British in North Africa and make them fight for every inch, when they finally prevail and build up their forces for the invasion of Italy the Allies leave France alone it seems most of 1944. Hmmmm.

Can't speak to North Africa yet, but against the AI, the arrival of the AK pretty much seals the British doom.

Bo, you know the WA will invade the west, cut back on your research & diplomacy a bit, build a quick reaction force around a competent German commander.

Have them ready to go, keep them close to a supplied rail line in the USSR, where they can still fight the Soviets until the Allies invade.

If you have the Italian & German engineers build fortifications where you can operate in "speed bumps", in successive defensive lines, then the quick reaction force will have time to deploy and stop the Allies.

The continuing campaign in the USSR will suffer only a minor setback.

AK doesn't always. The AI will at times commit massive resources to NA to the point where I have seen every hex in northeastern Egypt filled with units. The Axis just can't kill units fast enough to make headway.

I leave the ENG in the west to fortify almost everything and then start leaving corps in the west. Like you said, at some point I will operate a HQ back to lead them and maybe a tank plus fighters.

Thank you James, will do as suggested, [always forget about those damn rail lines] James, is there any advantage for the Axis to take North Africa and continue on into Syria and beyond?

Thank you for the response ILCK, where do you suggest the engineers fortify at the coast or on the borders of Germany? The Italian engineers have it much easier they have only four hexe's to fortify to go from shore to shore, in the middle of Italy.

I tend to fortify Calais to Cherbourg and then cut off Brittany. I won't just give up the peninsula but do want a line to fall back on. I start that asap when afrance falls and I get an ENG. plenty of time. I then build lines to fall back on through France.

Also AA. Upgrade French cities. Buy AA units and position near the beaches and upgrade AA on units in the west. I don't in the east but the USA air power is stupid powerful and the AI in particular loves air power.

A small mobile force can pursue past Egypt and into Syria and Iraq, eventually Persia. Helps your income considerably and real resistance does not come until you approach Baku.

I allow Italy to take Yugoslavia and Greece to help their income which will help build forces and possibly invade Turkey. But resistance comes from the USSR in Eastern Turkey.

A holding force will distract the USSR and draw firepower from other objectives.

I took a second German HQ to NA along with an extra Panzer Corps and PG detachment, all with upgraded mobility.

The Italians were laggards, but I let them take Egypt, Persia, Iraq and everything else on the way into the Caucasus.

The British did have a massive amount of forces around Alexandria, but with additional airpower they slowly melted away, just like the Soviets.

Slow, methodical advance is the order of the day. No hurry, where the Allies invade, hold, build up, vanquish.
