Here is the Argonaut's as built. John Jordan's book speaks that they originally were to also carry a small seaplane. I intend to add that for my Mods. The question is what would become of an already large, cumbersome slow sub with additions?

How might the new SS look?

Am going to throw out some ideas/proposals. Since this sub was never built would enjoy as much commentary as possible.

I'll be boring and say it won't be much different at all. A bit heavier, somewhat lower submerged speed (irrelevant in the game) and that's about it.

All you are adding is essentially a cylinder on top of the deck to store the aircraft, a crane to handle the plane and some minor miscellaneous stuff (air crew, fuel). In return you'd probably land one of the guns to make space for the topside stuff, maybe even both as weight compensation.

Would the MVR drop with the extra weight and space?

I would agree on dropping MVR.

How much weight do you think would be added to displacement? 200T, 300T, 500T?

I have been reading about the V class submarine (google search). I would also think that durability would drop due to hanger door and what not. Maybe a drop in speed due to the all the extras.

That would make sense along with MVR.

Putting three of these new SS into Between the Storms.

Need Artwork from someone please.

We're going to pull the bow gun and add the hangar, crane, and catapult. We'll figure 200T since we're getting rid of the 6" gun.

Need a class name. Chose 'seahorse' as a place holder but want something more appropriate. Need three ship names that go with the class name. Will take anything...

For the new class I have created the Gadfly and the Firefly for their recon planes. They are fully patterned off of the specs for the Glen.

So the USN get three that can resize and the IJN gets all of theirs?

No. You inferred. ALL pre-war US CV/CVL ships can: Lex, Sara, King's Mountain, Ely, Langley, Yorktown, Enterprise, Hornet, and Wasp. Make sense? The others come in and do their thing as per normal.

Bill--Unless it deals with these Subs please stay in the other thread. Don't want too much confusion...

I have no idea how that cross posted in this thread. Probably a mistake on my part somehow.

More than fine. I get confused enough for anyone!

Need some sort of set of names that run together for these SS. Think I shall pull open the salt fish books I have from the aquarium side of my life and see if some sort of inspiration comes through.

Perhaps variations of flying sea creatures would be good names for the class:

1. Devil Ray
2. Exocet
3. Icarfish
4. Yellow Wing
5. Beauty Fin
6. Pharao

or the completely imaginary:

7. Air Fin

John: Is this the drawing of the sub you wanted? Note the AC hanger behind the conning tower.
