Frankly I come here to this thread to get away from all that killing and general unpleasantness.

I'm glad you find me so pleasant. Did you know that scaly reptiles are carriers of stinky salmonella? Ever had food poisoning?
warspite1

I don't find you pleasant at all, after all, Gorns reputations come before them, and the roughness of the skin - not to mention the Salmonella aspect - has never appealed.

What I mean is, I come here when I want to relax and get away from warfare and killing as I know that there will be no such thing taking place on this thread.

Seriously though, I am pleased to read that you and AW1Steve have a plan to get this started.

Plan? This is news to me. I wonder when Geoff was going to let me in on "our" plan.
warspite1

Well apologies, but the last posts on this that I read were post 670 from you when you spelled out a way forward, and then 673 from the Gorn, which read:

quote:

Communication received and replied to. We'll work this out soon.

Now call me stupid, but I assumed that that meant your way forward had been received, acknowledged and replied to.

If I was wrong well sorry but I'm not a mind reader.

I also thought things were moving forward smartly after that...

Steve wants a meet. I'm apparently having allergic reactions to tree pollen, which has come early this year. When I woke up this a.m. I had difficulty breathing and I'm kind of foggy now. I never had any pollen allergy I was aware of before but allergies come and go, strengthen and weaken. Otherwise we don't communicate well through the forum. I still don't know why that last error occurred or why my password didn't work, but like I say I'm just too foggy right now. I'm taking my temperature regularly as some people are developing pneumonia around here. Let's just put this thread on hold til he and I figure out what the problem is. When I'm able I'll probably take a copy of my game folder to him and try and see if we can get it to work on his machine

That is a great idea. Get it working on one computer and then just copy the whole game folder to the other and you should be ready to go. I would recommend taking a jump drive (thumb drive, whatever you call them) to copy / save files to.

I know we are all giving both of you guys a hard time but really we are all anxious to watch the AAR.

OK. Let's try this again. The only communications we seem to be having is MISCOMUNICATION. So lets try this. Take your medication. Rest and stabilize. When you feel better , we can actually have a discussion. Be it phone , Skype , email or over a pint (my recommendation). It is NOT necessary that we meet , but I think it would clear away a lot of misconceptions . And we seem to have a lot. Let me know when your better , and we'll talk.

OK. Geoff called me and we had a very brief talk (as we both have laryngitis , he from his pollen allergy and me from some kind of flu/cold/bug). We are still on the test phase , trying to see if we can get synched up on as basic stock game. We are still discussing any beta additions. I'll post any additional information as it becomes available.

In my case it will probably be several pints. St. Louis is developing a quite good craft brewing scene. Amazingly since Budweiser has kept a stranglehold on this city for so long. They even kept Disney World out because Disney wanted the Magic kingdom kept dry for kids. Orlando's gain!

I would like to announce that we have exchanged a test turn with no errors! I, unless advised to wait up will proceed to producing a first turn. I believe we are on the same page as far as preferences go, as per my earlier posts. I think it appropriate for me to begin a new AAR to document the destruction of the US and Western culture as we knew it. Anyone named Steve will be banned from looking at it, and I do mean anyone! That goes for Steve Martin, Steven Spielberg and Steve Garvey. Button your bloomers and batten your hatches. I think I will name the new AAR "Gorna Doone". Please react negatively before it is too late.

Ah.. the Doone's were brigands, with nothing super natural (or even super ) about them . But then again , Lorna wasn't exactly a Doone. And they'll be no Gene Kelly or Van Johnston in any game I'm involved it, That's just silly.

Mules!

Check this out. Interesting read.

http://warfarehistorynetwork.com/daily/wwii/army-mules-the-beast-of-burden-in-war/

Read to the end where they talk about camouflaged mules in the Italian theater!

Interesting read - didn't know the Allies used pack animals in WW2.... Thought it was just the Germans.

Those look no where near big enough for mules unless they were the wrong kind. The mules you want have as a mother a female horse and the dads are donkeys. The products of male horses and female donkeys are less useful and smaller. I believe those animals in the pic are in fact asses (donkeys) and would not be surprised at their use. Mules certainly were used by the US in Italy, Burma and the Pacific in WWII and France in WWI. Mules are wonderful animals and none better than American mules.

Anyways, I've seen lots of jackasses bigger than these. Imagine that soldier trying to ride that animal, it would collapse. There have been cavalry charges on the backs of mules.

There's another point about that picture. Mules have to be trained. By the time they are they are huge. An ass could be that small while fully trained.

Two mules could pull a 75. If I was a mule breeder I'd be embarrassed to sell an animal that small and call it a mule.
