Japan moves units by sea. In the only attack, 1 SNLF Div landed in the former French Indo China to crush partisans in Hanoi.

AXIS #5 JAN/FEB 1941

Words will have to serve for this impulse as my usual resource for storing screenshots failed.

Snow in Mitteleuropa. Germany declared war on Hungary. The US didn't mind. South Dobruja, man. That was awful.

Japan aligned Madagascar. For some reason this really upset the USA, +2 chits.

Germany and Japan land, Italy combined.

The Italians put another fleet into the E Med, 1 box. A large CW force in the 0 box cannot intercept and the mission is successful in delivering good quality Mot and Mech Corps to Balbo behind his lines at Bardia and Tobruk. The Italians do not search. Searches by Italian aircraft searching for unescorted CW cps in W Med fail.

But a lone Italian sub in North Atlantic rolls 1 and causes havoc amongst 9 unescorted CW cps. Two are destroyed, three aborted to Halifax Nova Scotia.

Meanwhile the German invasion of Hungary proves premature. Stukas ground striking snowy Budapest completely miss. The garrison survives a 41:7 +5 assault, Germans rolled 7, lost a Mot Div, and disorganised their spearhead of elite troops in that area as Rommel and substantial reserves lumber behind. A gamble and a mis-step.

AXIS #9 JAN/FEB 1941

Three land actions, little to report aside from storms and blizzards.

Rommel railed in to take charge of the Budapest disaster.

One attack in South China from the dishonorable General Umezu.

Turn ends on the allied impulse. A commie chinese partisan appears in Changsa, trying to cut supply to the Japanese army deep into chinese territory.

And having enough of Japanese aggression, and taking the advice of is senior naval commanders, President Roosevelt orders the Fleet from San Diego to take up residence in Pearl Harbor.

AXIS #1 MAR/APR 1941

Axis win the initiative and move first. Fine weather all over the world, roll 10. Fighting weather.

Land moves for Germany and Japan. Italy takes a combined, sends two subs to Cape St Vincent, and a Gabbiano to the W Med 4 box to hunt unescorted British Empire convoys.

The Italians roll well in E Med too, and W Med. 4 further CW cps are destroyed. Just one remains to supply Malta in the E Med.

Il Duce is delighted. These raids have been a great victory for Italy, though we only had the one combat round in each sea area.

Air combat is fiercely contested by the Hungarian air force as the Luftwaffe ground strikes Budapest. The Germans lose a fighter, but the Stuka eventually gets through, hitting the weaker defending infantry corps.

A German artillery ground strike from Calais misses the bomber and Mot Corps in Dover.

But the prime target of Budapest falls to Rommel, with assistance from Rumanians.

Soon we will inflict our liberal Nazi hell of diversity officers, health and safety at work, avoiding deliberately sexist or racist language, a decent standard of living with a welfare safety net for all, and enforced respectful multiculturalism, on the unsuspecting peoples of Hungary.

We knew they would never vote for it.

End of impulse.

Losing iniative really hurt the CW. Took a naval impulse and asserted our dominance over the sea lanes. The only action occurred in the E. Med where a CW fleet surprised the Italians in a surface action, sending the CL's Diaz and Cadorna and 1 cp to the bottom.
Weather turns bad on the roll of a 4.

There's little to report with most of the world lashed by storms until the weather clears again in Axis #9 Mar/Apr 41.

Germany and Japan take land actions, Italy a combined. The Italians put pretty much their entire navy into the Eastern Med. No interception from the substantial RN forces, and neither side searches. The subs in Cape St Vincent do, but find nothing. Given the RN carrier group patrolling there that may have been for the best.

Balbo is back in supply and eyeballing Wavell, whose forces have not yet caught up with him.

There is to be a great Italian desert offensive. The battleships are now ranging on the British armour, if only from the 2 box.

Yamamoto has Mao's HQ near-surrounded, and disorganised in the Shansi mountains as the communists withdraw to prevent attacks on Tungkwan. A significant blow is struck in north China.

The Italians make it typically difficult for themselves in the Great Battle of Bardia by by rolling 7, and losing one of the best Italian units. The Libyan Territorials cannot keep up.

But Wavell is sent packing, shattered. The Italians advance into Egypt.

Turn continues on an 8.

The Royal Navy called off searching for an enemy? And that enemy proceeded to shell the poor Tommies? The First Sea Lord and several Admirals should be immediately sacked for such an embarassment!

The Admiralty seem to have made their displeasure clear.

In the ensuing Allied impulse, RN in E Med did search, and rolled an advantageous 2 v 8.

The result was a naval air attack on the Italian fleet with AAA almost cancelled out.

A build point blow in the ongoing Italian conflict with the British Empire: an Italian TRS carrying AAA they neglected to disembark with those paltry combined move limits was sunk. CL Giussano was damaged. Two battleships and the CL Colleoni were forced back to La Spezia.

Subsequent searches failed. At least there is a replacement TRS in production for Italy.

Elsewhere RAF bombers raided Lille despite the 88mm AAA stationed there. Rolled a 10, hit.

The weather turned bad again.

E Med start of Axis #13 Mar/Apr 41
