China: 6 bp Mil, Gar, inf div.
CW: 19 bp Pilot x2, Ca Trinadad 2nd phase, CA Repair, Convoy x2, Ftr-2, CVA-1, Para, Mot.
US: 27 bp Pilot x2, Convoy x2, BB Wyoming 2nd phase, LND-4, FTR-2, Trs 1st phase, HQ-I, Terr, Inf.
USSR: 18 bp pilot x2, mil x2, armor div, FTR-2, AA.

Aliies won iniative and moved first, this made a back to back move for the russians, helping them to reform a line in the south with the aid of reinforcements. They even counter attacked a lone German armor killing it in a plus 9 blitz attack.

AXIS #3 NOV/DEC 1941

Italy and Japan combined, Germany land.

The Italians sent out a cp and some air power to the E Med to reestablish supply to Balbo in Egypt.

Predictably, a large RN fleet finds the Italians, and over three combat rounds gets the better search rolls.

Results: CW lose a carrier Swordfiosh squadron and a damaged light cruiser. The Italians lose the cp, the heavy cruiser Zara is destroyed, the longest-range Italian fighter is also destroyed, and the Italian naval bombers all aborted back to Sicily.

Balbo is sat on a supply unit, though.

The Germans launched four automatic attacks. Two against dis/oos units south of Leningrad, and two others against partisans in Poland and Lille, France.

Most significant movement was by Guderian's Army Group in N Russia. The southern front is quiet in the snow, although Dneiperpetrovsk is occupied. The Germans move aircraft forward.

The Japanese militarised the Marshall islands. US roll 10.

The weather got worse, 9.

Bad weather keeps things quiet. German and Italian subs fail to find, again, in N Atlantic. A pass ends the turn early for the Allies.

Destroyed Nov/Dec 41

AXIS #1 JAN/FEB 42

Stormy weather and blizzards nearly everywhere aside from North Monsoon takes the shine off an Axis initiative win. There is even snow in the lowlands of NW India and parts of Saudi Arabia.

Japan and Italy conduct naval exercises. A supply link is reestablished to Balbo in Egypt. Sub searches in N Atl and Biscay fail (10,4/8,8). My opponent's run of luck at sea continues.

As the Germans shuffle units eastwards there is air combat above Kweiyang. A Japanese bomber is shot down.

AXIS #7 JAN/FEB 1942

Three land actions.

The Germans decide they must get a move on in Russia and Ukraine despite the snow.

The big news however is the Italian capture of Suez, punishing continuing CW passivity in North Africa and the Eastern Med.

Another great victory for Balbo without firing a shot.

The Soviets decide to commit all available aircraft against German attacks in the East.

Air combat above Guderian's drive towards the Neva River sees the Red bomber get through.

Guderian's drive to the Neva south of Leningrad succeeds, though the Germans elect to not use the breakthrough result to push their Mech on further as it would be on its own. We lost an Arm that way last turn.

Entertaining AAR! Most impressive progress by the axis. While I do admire what the axis is accomplishing, I can certainly empathize with the allied player as I'm getting a similar beat down at the hands of Pat in our AAR.

Thanks for reading and for your compliments Ronnie.

I'm running behind the Hitlerian timetable on the eastern front, haven't had many clear weather impulses. Naval search rolls have also gone the Allies' way in the last year or so. It could be worse for them, and better for us! In North Africa it certainly has been going well for the Italians, if slowly. Probably all to play for in the Pacific, but the clock is now ticking since the US oil embargo.

AXIS #11 JAN/FEB 42

Germany combined, Japan and Italy land.

German subs miss in Nth Atlantic, roll 9, 5.

The Japanese ground strike an isolated pocket of Communists in the snow. They don't gain a big enough advantage to launch a land attack.

Mountain warfare is slow.

The Italian Army of Africa under Balbo occupies Cairo. Balbo calls upon the out of supply colonial troops of the British Empire to lay down their arms.

The weather is terrible nearly everywhere.

AXIS #1 MAR/APR 1942

With weather clear across the world, Japan declares war on USA and CW.

Japan plays its O-Chit for a supercombined operation. Italy and Germany take land actions.

Predictably, there is a port strike against Pearl Harbor from a large Japanese carrier fleet.

In Russia and Ukraine, Soviet aircraft intercept two Luftwaffe ground strikes. The first combat, near Leningrad, is a great success for the Reds.
